What is MoCA Cognition?

The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) is a brief, 30-item tool designed to help healthcare professionals detect cognitive impairments early, which supports faster diagnosis and improved patient care. This assessment allows healthcare providers and researchers to pinpoint cognitive difficulties linked to a variety of conditions, including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, frontotemporal dementia, and brain tumors, among others. A wide array of practitioners, such as nurses, primary care physicians, specialists, occupational therapists, and psychologists, routinely use MoCA in their evaluations. It effectively measures vital cognitive abilities like short-term memory, visuospatial skills, executive functions, attention, language proficiency, as well as orientation to time and place. The adaptability of the MoCA ensures its significance in cognitive health evaluations across numerous healthcare environments. As a result, its widespread application contributes to more timely interventions and better management of cognitive health issues.

What is CASIC Builder?

CASIC Builderâ„¢ emerged from research linked to an NIH project SBIR, originally aimed at assessing adherence in individuals with HIV. Over time, it has expanded to consider various factors, including depression, substance and alcohol use, and sexual risk behaviors. Today, the tool stands out as a comprehensive and intuitive solution for crafting questionnaires, overseeing research projects, and supporting clinical applications. Its ability to probe into patients' medication habits has proven useful in research related to adherence for heart medications and opioid prescriptions. Additionally, its flexibility has allowed it to be integrated into a Brazilian study that utilized sign language videos for deaf participants. Users can access CASIC Builderâ„¢ with or without its specific medication-related features. Since its inception more than ten years ago, we have strived to develop a browser-based platform that caters to intricate studies involving varied patient demographics, all while maintaining an easy-to-navigate interface. This ongoing dedication to improving accessibility and versatility remains at the forefront of our efforts to enhance the software further, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of researchers and clinicians alike.
