What is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Block Volume?

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Block Volume provides customers with reliable and high-performance block storage that works seamlessly with various virtual machines and bare metal configurations. These Block Volumes are built with inherent redundancy, which guarantees their persistence and durability even when a virtual machine is no longer operational, with the capability to scale up to 1 PB for every compute instance. Each volume is engineered for long-lasting use, operating on redundant hardware to ensure outstanding reliability. Users have the option to back up both their block and boot volumes to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Object Storage, enabling them to establish regular recovery points. Additionally, they can manage their storage capacity flexibly, free from the constraints of traditional provisioning. Existing block and boot volumes can be expanded from 50 GB to as much as 32 TB while remaining online, thus avoiding any interruptions to applications and workloads. Furthermore, users can easily clone volumes or restore from backups, which simplifies the process of upgrading to larger volumes. This cloning can be performed without the prerequisite of a backup and restore, enhancing the efficiency of storage management. Overall, the features of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Block Volume significantly improve operational flexibility and reliability for users managing their storage needs.

What is MayaScale?

Develop a comprehensive NVMe over Fabrics shared storage solution using MayaScale that facilitates the incorporation of directly attached NVMe resources into a cohesive storage pool. This system allows for dynamic allocation of NVMe namespaces to clients seeking superior performance with low latency. After their requirements are met, clients can easily return NVMe storage to the collective pool, effectively addressing the common challenges of over-provisioning and wasted NVMe resources often seen in direct-attached architectures. The architecture is network-agnostic, utilizing RDMA for on-premises setups and standard TCP for cloud-based environments, which enhances its adaptability. Clients are able to connect to genuine NVMe devices through a standard NVMe driver stack, eliminating the necessity for proprietary drivers. Configuring and deploying an NVMe over Fabrics SAN infrastructure at rack scale in a data center can be accomplished by integrating various NVMe devices through RDMA-compatible links, such as ROCE, iWARP, or Infiniband. Moreover, in public cloud scenarios, users can take advantage of NVMe over Fabrics via the conventional TCP/IP protocol, removing the need for specific RDMA hardware or SRIOV virtualization. This forward-thinking approach not only maximizes resource efficiency but also ensures consistent high performance across different deployment landscapes, making it a versatile choice for modern storage solutions. Ultimately, this innovative design paves the way for improved scalability and flexibility in data management strategies.
