What is ELMSln?
The ELMS Learning Network (ELMSLN) is an open-source educational technology framework designed to promote innovation within course technologies. Unlike conventional learning management systems, it represents a Next Generation Digital Learning Environment (NGDLE) by utilizing a Suite of Tools approach for course creation. Visualize it as a solution similar to Google Apps, specifically crafted for colleges, educational institutions, or individual educators to oversee and personalize their courses according to their pedagogical goals. This platform fosters a collaborative environment of educational technologies that integrate smoothly, comply with industry standards like REST, xAPI, and LTI(1.2), and are capable of endless scalability thanks to its foundational design principles. Each course forms a network of interconnected technologies—hence the term Learning Network—enabling advanced customization that specifically meets the distinct needs of each course. Furthermore, ELMSLN operates under a fully open-source philosophy, adopting a best-of-breed methodology in the creation of open systems, which encourages ongoing contributions from the educational community. This dedication to openness not only boosts the platform's flexibility but also fosters collaborative development among its users. In doing so, it empowers educators to innovate in ways that were previously unattainable within traditional frameworks.
