We used spend hours creating and updating the timeline by manually aligning boxes, arrows, colors, etc. Office Timeline has saved our team time a significant amount of time and helped produce a better and more professional product for our ESC updates.

    A narrower version of Microsoft Project

    Sometimes, all you need is a nice polished infographic showing when your project is going to enter its next stage. Office Timeline is perfect for that.

    I got to try both Office Timeline and Microsoft Project in a project management class I took a few semesters ago. Office Timeline is more specialized towards just creating detailed project management timelines (Gantt charts and similar), while Microsoft Project has some additional features that you might not need.

    Also, Office Timeline has a nice free version that you can use if you only occasionally need to make a project planning presentation.

    Negative

    When I used it, you could only use Office Timeline by downloading it onto your Windows machine. It wouldn't work in a browser, and you couldn't try using it on a phone or on a Mac.

    Office Timeline was one of the best finds in my career. As a program manager interacting with senior leaders, I found it challenging to provide simple PowerPoint visuals of complicated multi-stakeholder projects. Office Timeline does exactly that. It is easy to use, saves me time and produces professional looking timelines. I would recommend this to any program or project manager who leads a large project with multiple dependencies.

    Great Product.

    Easy to use, easy startup, generally intuitive with training that filled in the gaps.
    Ability to create your own templates is great and saves time future timelines/roadmaps.
    Love the ability to generate a timeline straight from Excel/CSV/MS Project data.
    Vast improvement in ability to quickly generate timelines as I was formerly using Visio and tried some other great products such as SmartDraw.

    This product does what it is designed and marketed to do.

    "Nice to haves"...
    More customization over some of the objects but in no way a show stopper for the tradeoff of simplicity and great output.

    Nice to have ability for notes to show up over tasks/milestones when you hover over them so the Task/Milestones text can be minimal for a busy timeline.

    Would like greater ability to save colors for future use in the Color Palette.

    Both of these are on the roadmap.

    Amazing timeline creator for any project manager

    I can only imagine that the app solution is incredibly handy as the online solution already has a great interface. It's easy to use and lets you export it in different format and pick up anywhere you've left. Great for any managers.

    There is a timeline for any kind of project you want to outline or bring in a clear visual format. The timelines are categorised by functionality which makes it easy for you to navigate and pick a template. The interface very easy to use and I didn't need a tutorial (although available) to get started.

    There is no app solution for Mac users. I sincerely hope this will be made available really soon.

    Excellent. Very short learning curve. I was actually practicing with the free version trying to get ready for a potential project and quickly learned that I need more than 10 tasks and really want to use the swim lane feature as most projects have multiple phases with supporting tasks. I will recommend this software to any project leader or manager, not already using the tool. Very well done! Thank you.

    Very good, I will continue to use and recommend to my team. I have been told that the manufacturers are looking at how to alter the manual changes feature to improve ease of use.

    Ease of use, clarity of presentation, time saving aspects, seamless integration with powerpoint. I now use this software daily for all of my scheduling and project timelines and wonder how I did with out it.

    It took a little while longer than anticipated to understand the 'manual changes' features, however, I contacted Office Timeline Pro and received prompt and helpful support which I was impressed with and I now understand how to avoid the problems that I encountered. I have been using office timeline pro for 4 months and have not needed to contact support again.
