Initial day I was using only standard tool for backup but started facing challenges when database size was large, so started to find out how to tackle this and found the Percona utility free to use which gave me the real help and resolution.
Also, I can say that this very effective and efficient tool for backup.

4. Easy to do the setup of replication slave with ease , as the tool is capable to copy all the required files.
5. Used for Linux OS MySQL
6. 1.8 TB large database size.
7. Streaming function made easy to complete the job.
5. Usually not get failed.

There is no any cons for this but there is little bit of confusion in document, which one is to execute on source and target.

I can say Percona Xtrabackup is a solution to all backup and restore problems . Taking Incremental backups are literally so easy. I think it is best solution for every organization who needs a backup/restore tool.

Can't say it a cons but yes you should the knowledge Xtra backup queries.

I used to pay thousands of dollars for software not as great as this one.
In combination with AWS S3 and mysqlbinlog for streaming all transactions, this is a full very simple to use (cheap) backup strategy.

-Immediate s3 backups
-metadata contained in database itself, no extra files for incremental backups.
-Set and forget.
-In combination with mysqlbinlog thread from the backup server, I can backup the whole database in real time. Problem occurs, I just download the last full backup and the incremental backup from S3, prepare the restore and start the database. Once it starts, I can check the last position of the binlog file and just recreate the transactions that where lost since the last incremental backup. Very simple to use. I sleep very well.

This tool works so well and so easy to use, I kinda feel bad charging customers for backups.

Percona XtraBackup is a really great product with some great Backup features and help us in getting the quick backup with the speed as its feature.

Percona XtraBackup mostly has some great features and there are not many cons but sometimes hard to use for beginners.

It really helped me when I needed it. The most important thing I know is the possibility to have an enterprise tool, for free.

It was much simpler than using the MySQL dump tool to do the daily backup.

At the time, I used to have a 2TB MYSQL database, that I used for Zabbix monitoring. And Percona makes it easy to automate the backup.

Not much that I could point out.

Good consistent hot backup solution with incremental backup and streaming options ease of management for Galera cluster with the possibility to synchronize a node without interrupting applications while reducing the time needed. It's all about backups!

There is an opportunity to improve the backup conditions when large DDL queries were running.

I'd say it is the de-facto standard solution.

Using this to backup our production-systems to S3 or re-sync slave nodes.
Works like a charm.
We use it to test the restore process automatic with gitlab ci/cd.

Not really a con, but tuning the backup/sync process for speed takes time and some nerves.
Restoring single tables is not easy.

Almost all the MySQL backup solutions I assembled based on Percona Xtrabackup. I cannot remember a single time it failed me.

It's easy to integrate, a lot of performance/scalability features including throttling, encryption, streaming to cloud.

Parallel streaming to/from s3 would be a nice feature to make the backup/restore time better.
