Elevating the patient voice is not merely advantageous, but essential for the advancement of effective healthcare services, and it fosters stronger relationships between patients and providers.

What is Ampersand Health Suite?

Ampersand Health launched an 8-week support program designed specifically for individuals dealing with IBD who experience chronic pain and fatigue. After the program concluded, there was a notable improvement in the average ACT survey scores among the participants (n=21, p<0.0001). This suggests that the individuals were able to cultivate a greater sense of acceptance and psychological flexibility, develop a clearer insight into their chronic symptoms, and establish a feeling of community, allowing them to recognize that a fulfilling life is possible despite ongoing pain and fatigue. Although the study did not expect to see any modifications in the physical aspects of chronic pain and fatigue, the participants reported a change in their perception of these symptoms after engaging in the program. It is worth noting that the metrics for symptoms and disease activity, measured through a validated Patient Reported Outcome Measure, remained consistent throughout the study period. This underscores the critical role of psychological support in tandem with managing physical health for those living with chronic illnesses, emphasizing that emotional well-being is just as vital as physical health. The findings highlight the need for a holistic approach to treatment, integrating both mental and physical health strategies for optimal patient outcomes.
