What is DeviceShelf?

DeviceShelf offers an extensive overview of your local network, guaranteeing that the entire layout is securely kept on your device. With just one scan, it provides in-depth information about each responding device, such as vendor details, hostname, operating system, and type, while also offering insights into open ports and their security implications. The tool scans all network adapters simultaneously, identifies devices through MAC OUI, DNS, mDNS/Bonjour, NetBIOS, TTL, and DHCP fingerprints, and lists open TCP and UDP ports alongside detected services, resulting in a prioritized security report that emphasizes any exposed services like Telnet, RDP, ADB, Docker API, or Redis; it also notes default credentials, weak TLS configurations, and known CVEs, each accompanied by suggested remedies and risk assessments ranging from 0 to 100. Additionally, DeviceShelf continuously observes network activity, monitoring when devices link or disconnect and delivering real-time metrics on uptime, latency, and bandwidth for each connected device. There’s no requirement for an account, as DeviceShelf functions without telemetry or cloud integration, ensuring that scanning results stay local to the initiating computer; moreover, its optional AI assistant can operate using either your own API key or a local model. In addition, a single license provides access to desktop, mobile, and a 24/7 server version, making it an adaptable option for effective network management. What is AdRem NetCrunch?

NetCrunch is commercial, self-hosted, agentless network and IT infrastructure monitoring software for Windows Server. It monitors network devices, servers, virtualization platforms, cloud services including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, applications, websites, logs, telemetry, and custom data using technologies such as SNMP, WMI, REST APIs, and scripts. NetCrunch supports 680+ monitoring targets and provides 270+ ready-to-use Monitoring Packs for devices, applications, and operating systems. Policy-based monitoring automatically applies monitoring settings, Monitoring Packs, thresholds, and alerts to matching devices and systems. Licensing is based on monitored nodes and network interfaces rather than individual sensors, checks, or metrics. Real-time dashboards and automatic Layer 2 and routing topology maps provide visibility into network status and performance. NetCrunch supports event correlation, dependency-aware alert suppression, predictive thresholds, escalation, and 40+ automated response actions, including script execution, notifications, webhooks, and integrations with external IT and collaboration tools. NetCrunch also provides hardware and software inventory, network device configuration backup and change tracking, bandwidth monitoring, and network traffic analysis using NetFlow, sFlow, IPFIX, and other flow technologies. Distributed Monitoring Probes extend monitoring to remote and isolated locations, while REST APIs support integration and automation with external systems. NetCrunch is self-hosted on Windows Server and can monitor on-premises, air-gapped, cloud, and hybrid IT environments.

NetCrunch licensing is based on the number of monitored nodes and network interfaces. Each node license includes one monitored interface, and additional interface licenses can be added when more network interfaces need to be monitored. Licensing is not based on individual sensors, checks, or metrics.
