What is DocumentDB for VS Code?

The DocumentDB extension for Visual Studio Code is an open-source and free tool that allows users to efficiently explore, query, and manage databases utilizing the MongoDB API wire protocol. It is compatible with a range of database services such as DocumentDB, Azure DocumentDB, AWS DocumentDB, Azure Cosmos DB for MongoDB, MongoDB Atlas, as well as self-hosted MongoDB-compatible setups and local emulators. Among its features are a visual Collection View, a JavaScript Query Playground, an interactive shell, schema-aware autocomplete, capabilities for document editing, import/export functionality, index management, query insights, Entra ID authentication, and cloud service discovery. These functionalities are seamlessly integrated within VS Code, which removes the necessity for any external database management applications. Furthermore, the intuitive interface enhances the overall workflow, making it easier for developers to manage databases effectively and with greater accessibility. This extension thus significantly contributes to improving productivity and streamlining development processes.

What is CloudBoost?

CloudBoost can be configured in numerous environments based on your needs. To streamline this setup, we offer a Docker Compose file that enables you to launch CloudBoost within minutes using a single command. This file is suitable for local installations on your development machine or can be deployed on cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, DigitalOcean, and others. If your project does not already contain a config folder at its root, you will need to create one. Within this folder, generate a new file called cloudboost.json, where you will enter your MongoDB and Redis settings. After starting the server, you should see the ClusterKey and SecureKey printed in the console, confirming that CloudBoost has been successfully launched. If these keys do not appear, we recommend that you submit an issue on GitHub for further assistance. Ensuring that all configurations are set correctly is crucial for a seamless installation and functioning, so take the time to verify each step in the setup process. Additionally, keeping your dependencies up to date will help maintain optimal performance and security.
