What is Group-IB Attack Surface Management?

The transition towards cloud services and extensive digitization is introducing an unprecedented level of complexity and scale within corporate IT structures, making it more challenging to manage external IT assets across various organizations. Group-IB's Attack Surface Management significantly enhances security by systematically pinpointing all external IT assets, assessing risks through threat intelligence, and prioritizing issues to enable effective remediation strategies. This solution aids in locating all external resources, such as shadow IT, underutilized infrastructure, and configuration errors. By validating the assets of an organization, a dynamic IT asset inventory can be established that evolves with ongoing growth. Moreover, it offers valuable insights into hidden threats, including credential leaks, dark web mentions, botnet operations, malware, and other potential risks. By scrutinizing verified assets for common vulnerabilities and assigning risk ratings, organizations can efficiently focus their remediation efforts on the most critical issues. In the end, this proactive approach not only alleviates risks and resolves challenges but also leads to significant enhancements in the organization’s overall security posture. By adopting these strategies, organizations can effectively navigate the continuously changing landscape of cyber threats, ensuring their resilience against potential attacks.

What is Evidence Platform?

The Evidence Platform acts as a comprehensive vulnerability management system that utilizes evidence-based techniques to help organizations uncover their external attack surface and identify vulnerabilities that could result in substantial financial losses. It illustrates the advantages of remediation actions while also safeguarding against negative financial impacts. By leveraging the Evidence Graph, a continually updated representation of the internet, the platform efficiently maps an organization's externally exposed assets before any configurations are made, identifying infrastructure elements that might be missed by conventional seed-based discovery approaches. This system clarifies the ownership of each asset, tracks the development of new assets through certificate logs and passive DNS, and facilitates searches based on various criteria such as technology, ports, certificates, geography, and associated risks. The Evidence Scan function performs daily evaluations of each asset against the FIRE list, Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEVs), and customized Common Vulnerability and Exposure (CVE) lists through non-intrusive external scanning techniques. FIREs refer to externally accessible CVEs that are linked to verified losses as noted in insurance claims, forensic reports, reinsurer databases, or public disclosures, establishing this platform as an essential resource for proactive vulnerability management. Furthermore, organizations can utilize this platform not only to anticipate potential threats but also to ensure that their defenses are perpetually refined and enhanced, thereby improving their overall security posture in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
