What is HPE FlexNetwork MSR95x Router Series?

The HPE MSR95x Router Series delivers robust and efficient routing solutions tailored for small branch offices, all packaged in a compact and cost-effective design. This series seamlessly integrates routing, switching, wireless, security, and voice functionalities without requiring additional licensing, thereby enhancing service delivery and simplifying WAN management for organizations. It offers a range of flexible deployment choices, including Zero Touch Provisioning and LTE options for WAN connectivity. By leveraging Comware v7 along with fiber connections, the MSR95x achieves the performance and advanced features typically associated with modular routers, such as Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) and strong encryption, all while maintaining a fixed port setup. Notably, this series excels in providing high-performance fiber routing, switching, and security capabilities, achieving remarkable speeds of up to 3 million packets per second (Mpps). It encompasses integrated support for 1/10GbE, WAN, LAN, and fiber (SFP), alongside compatibility with 4G LTE, 3G, and IEEE 802.11b/g/n WLAN, all within one device. Furthermore, it boasts essential features like built-in encryption, a stateful firewall, Network Address Translation (NAT), and ADVPN security functions. The unified Comware v7 operating system, along with a zero-touch deployment approach and a user-friendly single-pane-of-glass management interface, enhances usability and operational efficiency for network administrators. In essence, the MSR95x series emerges as a multifaceted solution, adept at meeting the diverse demands of contemporary networking environments while ensuring future scalability and reliability.

What is Cisco FlexConnect?

FlexConnect offers a wireless solution tailored for branch and remote office deployments, enabling centralized management of access points (AP) from a corporate location through a wide area network (WAN), eliminating the need for individual controllers at each site. This innovative system allows for remote configuration and monitoring of access points, leading to more efficient utilization of network resources. FlexConnect access points can manage client data traffic locally and have the ability to authenticate users on-site if the connection to the main controller is disrupted; however, they also have the option to transmit data back to the controller when connected. In such a connected scenario, these access points are capable of performing local authentication tasks as well. Client management can be performed on a per-WLAN basis, with data routed to the controller using CAPWAP (Central Switching) or processed locally via the AP's LAN port (Local Switching). With the Local Switching feature, access points can categorize client traffic by tagging it into distinct VLANs, which effectively keeps it separate from management traffic. This added flexibility not only improves the overall performance of the network but also significantly enhances the security measures for branch offices. Furthermore, the ability to manage multiple access points from a central location streamlines operations and reduces the time spent on network administration.
