What is Index Engines?

Keeping outdated backup catalogs can lead to significant expenses. Traditionally, the task of accessing data from older tape backups has been a complex and prolonged process. Additionally, ignoring these backup archives may result in serious governance challenges. Index Engines empowers organizations to make knowledgeable decisions regarding their legacy backup data by employing cutting-edge direct indexing technology that functions independently from the original backup software. This method entails a non-invasive examination of backup images stored on tape or disk, uncovering valuable information about file types, dates, users, and more. The ability to extract this data allows for the targeted retrieval of specific content for urgent requests or thorough compliance-driven migration processes. Clients of Index Engines range from smaller data environments managing terabytes of information to large multinational corporations with complex data systems that encompass petabytes. Their solutions cater to a variety of requirements, including data minimization, consolidation of legacy backup catalogs, recovery from ransomware attacks, and ensuring preparedness for governance issues. By utilizing Index Engines, organizations can optimize their management of legacy data, ultimately leading to cost reduction and enhanced compliance. Furthermore, this innovative approach not only streamlines operations but also supports organizations in maintaining a robust governance framework in the face of evolving regulatory demands.

What is Hiberden?

Hiberden is a cutting-edge desktop archiving software crafted to deliver robust 3-2-1 protection for large media collections. This versatile application empowers users to archive their projects across a range of storage solutions, including LTO tape (utilizing LTFS with multi-cartridge spanning), local hard drives, NAS systems, and S3-compatible cloud services, all accessible through a unified catalog interface. With a quick visual check, users can determine the status of their projects, identifying those that are fully protected, at risk, or lacking adequate security. During the archiving process, each file is hashed using SHA-256, and it is only designated as Verified after Hiberden reads the file from the storage medium and confirms every hash, ensuring that your catalog represents dependable evidence rather than just optimism. Furthermore, the application conducts scheduled verification sweeps to monitor copies over time, enabling the early detection of silent corruption before the files are needed. Hiberden also facilitates immediate file retrieval from all copies, including those that are archived on offline tapes. A built-in MCP server allows seamless interaction with AI assistants, such as Claude, enabling users to pose straightforward questions like, "Is the Johnson wedding safe, and where is it?" directly from their catalog interface. Compatible with Windows 10/11 and currently in beta for Linux, Hiberden provides a free trial, transitioning to a one-time perpetual license, eliminating the need for ongoing subscriptions. This application is meticulously designed for studios, archivists, and anyone needing their files to outlast their hardware, ensuring enduring data security and easy access for years to come, which is a critical aspect for maintaining valuable media assets.
