What is Net-vProbe?

The Net vProbe is a dynamic software tool designed to evaluate the quality of transport for over-the-top (OTT) multicast video streams, which include formats like DASH and HLS. This tool can be effectively deployed on x86 servers or within virtual machines at critical testing sites, whether they are cloud-based or on-premises. The number of OTT or multicast streams that it can support is entirely dependent on the chosen physical or virtual setup. The solution excels in measuring stream throughput that is compatible with both HLS and DASH, ensuring that HLS manifests are accurate and that the integrity of DASH sidx files is maintained. It has the capability to monitor all profiles concurrently, with throughput over time histograms that allow for in-depth analysis of each profile. The system is designed for continuous, 24/7 monitoring of a large number of streams while also validating and reporting on HTTP statuses and identifying any HTTP errors that may occur. By generating HTTP requests dynamically, it functions as an OTT client or player, providing features such as video decoding and thumbnail creation. Furthermore, it monitors buffer fill percentages and assesses the quality factor of stream transport, delivering comprehensive insights into video performance. With its extensive range of capabilities, the Net vProbe is crucial for optimizing streaming experiences and ensuring that users receive high-quality video content without interruptions. This makes it an indispensable asset for organizations focused on maintaining superior streaming service quality.

What is BoxWatch?

BoxWatch offers an all-in-one server monitoring solution that merges the capabilities of four distinct tools—metrics tracking, cron job heartbeats, uptime assessments, and process supervision—into a single platform. With just one agent to install, a centralized dashboard, and a simplified billing structure, overseeing server health has reached new levels of convenience. Traditionally, teams would resort to combining various services, such as Datadog for metrics, Healthchecks.io for cron job management, UptimeRobot for uptime evaluations, and a separate supervisor for process oversight. BoxWatch revolutionizes this practice by presenting a cohesive alternative that integrates all these functionalities into one unified system. In terms of metrics, it tracks vital indicators, including CPU usage, memory levels, disk availability, network performance, load averages, and uptime, all collected by a lightweight open-source bash agent that can be installed effortlessly with a single curl command. Users are equipped with trend visualizations, comparative analyses, and proactive alerts regarding disk space, ensuring they receive notifications well in advance of potential shortages. When it comes to cron heartbeats, BoxWatch allows users to send a ping to a designated URL upon job completion, while also delivering prompt alerts in case of any delays or failures in the ping response. It incorporates four distinct alert types with a transition-based deduplication mechanism, effectively reducing the risk of excessive notifications. For uptime monitoring, BoxWatch leverages its deployed agents to conduct HTTP, TCP, and TLS-expiry checks, ensuring that server availability is constantly monitored and upheld. This comprehensive approach not only improves time efficiency but also significantly boosts operational productivity across teams, making BoxWatch an invaluable asset in the realm of server management. By integrating so many functionalities into a single platform, it allows teams to focus more on their core tasks rather than juggling multiple tools.
