What is NetApp MetroCluster?

NetApp MetroCluster configurations comprise two separate ONTAP clusters located in different geographic areas, working in tandem to ensure continuous data availability and protection of storage virtual machines (SVMs). Each cluster perpetually synchronizes its data aggregates with its counterpart, ensuring both sites retain identical data copies at all times. In the event of a site failure, administrators can swiftly engage the mirrored SVM on the site that is still operational, guaranteeing that data services remain uninterrupted. The MetroCluster setup supports both fabric-attached (FC) and IP-based cluster designs: the fabric-attached version employs FC transport for SyncMirror synchronization between the locations, while the MetroCluster IP variant operates over layer-2 stretched IP networks. What is MayaScale?
