What is Cisco 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers?

The Cisco ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers act as a powerful platform for Software Defined WAN, amalgamating different WAN links and network functionalities like encryption and traffic control, allowing them to function at impressive line speeds between 2.5 and 200 Gbps. Crafted with both hardware and software redundancy, these routers feature a high-availability design that sets them apart in the market. Among the latest models in the Cisco ASR 1000 Series are the Cisco ASR 1002-HX and the Cisco ASR 1001-HX Routers, which can handle speeds of up to 100 Gbps in a compact 2-Rack-Unit (2RU) format and 60 Gbps in a 1-Rack-Unit (1RU) arrangement, respectively. The ASR 1002-HX is equipped with eight integrated 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) ports and eight 1 GE ports, in addition to an Ethernet Port Adapter (EPA) slot for future upgrades. Conversely, the ASR 1001-HX includes four built-in 10 GE ports, eight 1 GE ports, and four additional configurable ports that can function as either 10 GE or 1 GE. Enhancements to the Cisco ASR 1000 Series are also evident with the launch of the Route Processor 3, showcasing the latest innovation in modular control plane engines within this lineup to guarantee superior performance and dependability.
