What is Opal Zero?

Opal Zero acts as a governance platform designed for AI agents, offering just-in-time access management by systematically cataloging each agent, associating them with a responsible owner, assessing access requests, and executing decisions via the existing MCP gateway. This all-encompassing solution enables organizations to sustain a cohesive inventory across diverse identity providers and AI platforms such as Okta, Entra, Anthropic, OpenAI, Bedrock AgentCore, and Cursor, thereby clarifying the permissions assigned to each agent and their corresponding ownership. The Risk Center identifies access that could be misaligned with its intended application, unassigned, or excessively broad, directing these issues to the relevant owner while providing immediate options for corrective action. Paladin evaluates requests against predefined policies and contextual information, identifies the most limited access pathways, respects ownership boundaries, and explains the justification for each decision made. By scrutinizing actual user behavior, Policy Insights reveals cases of unnecessary access and recommends improvements to access policies, aiming for a proactive approach rather than reactive fixes. Gateway Enforcement guarantees that sanctioned access decisions are executed as precise, temporary policies within the current gateway framework, thereby cultivating a more secure and well-organized structure for managing AI agents. Additionally, this platform's robust analytics capabilities help organizations to adapt and refine their governance strategies continuously, ensuring that they remain aligned with evolving operational needs.

What is Opal Security?

Opal Security is an identity governance platform that helps organizations manage and enforce access decisions across human and non-human identities. The platform is designed to govern employees, contractors, AI agents, copilots, service accounts, applications, and infrastructure from a unified control layer. Opal evaluates access requests against policy and risk signals to help organizations enforce least privilege and reduce unnecessary standing access. Its Paladin AI engine can review requests, make or recommend decisions, explain the reasoning behind those decisions, and escalate uncertain cases to human reviewers. Just-in-time access enables privileged permissions to be granted for a limited period and then revoked automatically once the work is complete. AI-assisted access reviews analyze individual entitlements and available evidence to help reviewers determine whether permissions should be maintained or removed. Opal also extends governance to AI agents and autonomous systems by controlling what those identities can view, access, and execute. The platform maintains searchable audit records of access changes and administrative actions so organizations can trace who or what received access, when it changed, and how the decision was made. Audit data can be exported to external systems such as SIEM platforms or Amazon S3 to support compliance and security operations. Opal can run as a hosted service or be deployed in customer-controlled environments including virtual machines and Kubernetes, supporting organizations with strict infrastructure and regulatory requirements. Enterprise security features include SOC 2 Type 2 certification, annual penetration testing, monthly vulnerability scanning, encryption in transit and at rest, US and EU hosting options, and support for GDPR and CCPA requirements.
