What is Open edX?

Open edX provides a production-proven, open-source learning platform trusted by 140 million learners worldwide. Created by Harvard and MIT and governed by the nonprofit Axim Collaborative, it serves universities, enterprises, government agencies, and international organizations across 196 countries. The platform handles everything from small training programs to massive open online courses with no licensing fees. Organizations retain full ownership of learner data and configurations, making it well suited for those with strict data governance or GDPR requirements. It includes a built-in authoring tool (Studio), extensible content architecture (XBlocks), native mobile apps, real-time analytics, eCommerce, and enterprise integrations through LTI 1.3, SCORM, xAPI, SSO via SAML/OAuth, and REST APIs. The project delivers two major named releases annually. The latest is Verawood (June 2026), the 22nd community release. A network of verified service providers across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas, and more offers hosting, implementation, and support through the Open edX Marketplace.

What is Cubite LMS?

Cubite is an all-encompassing learning management system tailored for universities, training organizations, and businesses that deliver courses, featuring a robust multi-tenant architecture. It boasts vital functionalities such as native SCORM and xAPI support, complete with an integrated Learning Record Store, assessments, certificates, cohort management, learning pathways, discussion forums, and payment handling via Stripe and SureCart, all for a transparent fee of $290 monthly or $2,900 annually, which accommodates unlimited learners and courses. Each instance of Cubite can be tailored with white-label branding on a distinct domain, and users have the choice to purchase a perpetual license for an initial fee of $7,500, followed by an annual maintenance fee of $1,500, with the option to host on Cubite's infrastructure or their own. Cubite also operates a dedicated managed MCP server, providing access to a collection of 137 administrative tools that streamline the management of courses, learners, enrollments, certificates, grading, discussions, and site settings, all accessible through Claude or ChatGPT via a browser login with OAuth 2.1, eliminating the requirement for an API key—this is included with every site subscription. Furthermore, the same expert team that developed Cubite provides managed services for Moodle, starting at $690 monthly, and Open edX from $1,260 monthly, while also guiding organizations in migrating from LearnDash and various other WordPress LMS plugins. This comprehensive approach not only makes Cubite a highly adaptable platform but also enhances its attractiveness for those seeking to streamline their e-learning experiences. With its extensive features and support options, Cubite stands out as a premier choice in the realm of learning management systems.
