What is OrbGIS?

OrbGIS is an advanced web GIS platform created in Sweden, designed as a modern substitute for ArcGIS Online specifically for municipalities, governmental agencies, consulting firms, and academic researchers. It supports the uploading of multiple data formats, including Shapefile, GeoPackage, GeoJSON, GeoParquet, KML, and CSV, while the platform efficiently handles projection, indexing, and tiling, even for large-scale datasets across countries, utilizing precise coordinate systems like SWEREF 99 TM. Users can generate web maps, dashboards, surveys, story maps (Journeys), and print layouts with the same data layers, which can be shared with their organization or made available to the public. The pricing model is user-friendly, charging a flat fee for every 5 GB of storage and each editing user, while viewers can access the platform freely without any limitations, eliminating the complexities of credits or licensing tiers. Moreover, data is securely hosted within the European Union, with provisions for contractual residency in Sweden. A free QGIS plugin ensures a smooth connection between the web portal and desktop GIS for editing and uploading data, and there is also a complimentary converter that changes Esri File Geodatabases into open formats. Prospective users can benefit from a 30-day free trial that does not require a credit card, making it an attractive choice for those interested in discovering GIS functionalities. This feature not only encourages exploration but also reduces barriers to entry for new users in the GIS community.

What is ADAM Apparatus?

ADAM, or Apparatus Deployment Analysis Module, is a sophisticated predictive modeling system that investigates different deployment scenarios by integrating historical CAD data with GIS mapping information, employing a powerful projection algorithm to determine how shifts in deployment influence response times and resource allocation. It carefully analyzes the consequences of changes in deployment to pinpoint the most effective placements for personnel and units. Functioning within ArcMap through Esri add-ins, ADAM adeptly handles GIS layers, storing them in both geodatabase and shapefile formats. The system evaluates current workloads against historical CAD data, while its CAD Analyst feature provides an in-depth assessment of response performance. Findings are conveyed through intuitive graphics, comprehensive reports, and dashboards, which greatly aid in crafting compelling budget proposals for local officials. Furthermore, it allows for the evaluation of various deployment strategies and helps to determine the optimal site for a new station, all while aligning with the specific policies of each department to promote realistic and actionable planning. By merging data analysis with strategic insights on deployment, ADAM significantly enhances the operational efficiency and service delivery of departments, ultimately benefiting the communities they serve. This powerful tool not only streamlines decision-making but also fosters a proactive approach to resource management and emergency response planning.
