What is Propel?

Propel acts as an AI-powered code review platform, effectively serving as a virtual AI Tech Lead for your team by offering instant feedback on pull requests, converting comments into practical suggestions, and enabling faster, higher-quality merges. The platform evolves in response to your team's reviews, progressively improving code quality, enhancing the developer experience, and boosting overall team productivity. Additionally, Propel includes Security Scanning features that identify potential vulnerabilities and compliance issues before they can affect production environments. Through Propel, teams can build and maintain a dynamic knowledge base that documents their coding practices and best methods. In addition, Propel automatically compiles weekly summaries of all GitHub activities and sends them directly to Slack, making it a valuable resource for executive updates, promoting team accountability, and ensuring that all members are well-informed. This all-encompassing strategy not only simplifies the coding workflow but also fosters a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within development teams, ultimately leading to better software outcomes. As a result, Propel positions itself as an essential tool for modern development practices.

What is MergeMe?

MergeMe seamlessly integrates GitHub pull requests and GitLab merge requests into Slack, offering an efficient notification card that continuously updates for each PR/MR. Unlike the official Slack integrations for GitHub or GitLab that create a new message for every event, MergeMe refreshes a single message as its status changes—from opened to under review to approved and finally merged. During the review process, any comments are shown as replies in a thread under the notification card, which helps keep all feedback neatly organized and easily accessible. Additionally, MergeMe supports various code hosting services, such as GitHub, GitLab, and even self-hosted GitLab instances. Users have the ability to connect multiple git sources within a single Slack workspace, allowing them to assign each repository or project to specific Slack channels. It also maps usernames from GitHub and GitLab to Slack users to ensure effective notifications via @mentions for reviewers, while employing label-based routing to sort bugs, features, and documentation efforts into different channels. The setup is designed to be user-friendly and quick, taking approximately five minutes; users simply need to connect their Slack account, link their git provider through OAuth, a GitHub App, or a webhook URL for self-hosted setups, and configure the desired channel mappings. Importantly, MergeMe operates exclusively on webhook payloads, ensuring that it does not access any private source code. For users on the Free Hobby plan, the service offers one channel mapping and accommodates up to five users, making it a fantastic entry point for teams looking to improve their development processes and collaboration. Furthermore, as teams grow and require more mappings and users, they can easily transition to higher-tier plans to unlock additional features and enhancements.
