What is Pulldog?

Pulldog is a macOS application specifically designed to improve and simplify the code review process, allowing developers to evaluate their team's pull requests via a dedicated desktop interface. The application effortlessly connects with both GitHub and GitLab, enabling users to monitor and review pull requests across multiple repositories and accounts without the inconvenience of toggling through various browser tabs. Built using contemporary Apple technologies, Pulldog is finely tuned for seamless integration within the macOS environment, providing features such as Spotlight actions, widgets, and system shortcuts to streamline the management of code reviews in everyday workflows. By bringing together pull requests into one unified workspace, it allows users to track changes, review code alterations, and verify pipeline statuses while maintaining focus on their evaluations. This innovative method not only conserves time but also fosters better collaboration among development teams, ensuring that maintaining high code quality is prioritized. Moreover, Pulldog's user-friendly interface and efficient functionality make it an invaluable tool for developers striving to enhance their productivity and workflow consistency.

What is MergeMe?

MergeMe seamlessly integrates GitHub pull requests and GitLab merge requests into Slack, offering an efficient notification card that continuously updates for each PR/MR. Unlike the official Slack integrations for GitHub or GitLab that create a new message for every event, MergeMe refreshes a single message as its status changes—from opened to under review to approved and finally merged. During the review process, any comments are shown as replies in a thread under the notification card, which helps keep all feedback neatly organized and easily accessible. Additionally, MergeMe supports various code hosting services, such as GitHub, GitLab, and even self-hosted GitLab instances. Users have the ability to connect multiple git sources within a single Slack workspace, allowing them to assign each repository or project to specific Slack channels. It also maps usernames from GitHub and GitLab to Slack users to ensure effective notifications via @mentions for reviewers, while employing label-based routing to sort bugs, features, and documentation efforts into different channels. The setup is designed to be user-friendly and quick, taking approximately five minutes; users simply need to connect their Slack account, link their git provider through OAuth, a GitHub App, or a webhook URL for self-hosted setups, and configure the desired channel mappings. Importantly, MergeMe operates exclusively on webhook payloads, ensuring that it does not access any private source code. For users on the Free Hobby plan, the service offers one channel mapping and accommodates up to five users, making it a fantastic entry point for teams looking to improve their development processes and collaboration. Furthermore, as teams grow and require more mappings and users, they can easily transition to higher-tier plans to unlock additional features and enhancements.
