What is Semantic Scholar?

Semantic Scholar provides an array of complimentary, AI-powered tools designed for effective search and discovery, complemented by open resources specifically created for the global research community. This platform empowers researchers to swiftly understand the core concepts of scholarly papers, as our technology adeptly extracts meaning and highlights connections within the text, thus offering insights that enhance research discovery and understanding. Our goal to harness AI in creative ways is fueled by a commitment to instigating meaningful change. By tackling challenges through the lens of AI, we not only assist our community but also elevate the quality of our AI research by rooting it in real-world applications. We are firm believers that scientific knowledge should be available to everyone, and we recognize that current systems often favor certain groups of researchers over others. As a non-profit organization, we carefully evaluate the implications of our choices and actively seek avenues that promote a more equitable academic environment. Collaboration stands as a fundamental principle for us; we purposefully partner with our colleagues, knowing that collective efforts not only enhance our initiatives but also improve the quality of the results we produce. In nurturing such collaboration, we aspire to cultivate a more inclusive atmosphere that serves the interests of all researchers, ensuring that diverse voices are heard and valued in the academic discourse.

What is PubMed?

PubMed® serves as a vast database with over 35 million citations pertaining to biomedical literature, which is derived from MEDLINE, various life science journals, and an array of online books. Numerous citations offer access to full-text articles, which can be found via PubMed Central and the publishers' websites. This critical resource aims to streamline the process of searching and retrieving literature in the biomedical and life sciences sectors, ultimately striving to improve health outcomes on both global and individual scales. While the PubMed platform does not include full-text journal articles directly, it frequently provides hyperlinks to these articles when available from other sources, such as the publisher's website or PubMed Central (PMC). The citations featured in PubMed primarily stem from areas related to biomedicine and health, along with interrelated fields including life sciences, behavioral sciences, chemical sciences, and bioengineering. A considerable portion of PubMed comprises MEDLINE, which includes citations from journals that have been selectively chosen for this collection. Researchers, healthcare professionals, and those interested in medical advancements regularly turn to this platform to remain updated on the newest research findings and developments in the medical field, ensuring they have access to the most relevant information. As such, PubMed stands as an essential tool in the pursuit of improved health knowledge and practices.
