What is Squash Labs?

Testing environments on demand, specifically designed for web applications and microservices, are now accessible, allowing for faster iterations and significant time savings via temporary virtual machines associated with each code branch. By connecting with your GitHub, Bitbucket, or GitLab account, Squash enables effortless integration of new code into your repository and the initiation of a Pull Request. When you create a Pull Request, Squash automatically adds a comment containing a testing URL that, when clicked, activates a dedicated virtual machine to deploy your new code. This capability allows you to see your changes in real-time while testing your application within a secure environment. Teams often waste considerable time managing their environments and troubleshooting bugs that arise specifically from these settings. A single bug can trigger a cascade of issues, wasting precious time for QA teams, product managers, and developers alike. The repercussions of just one lost QA cycle due to environment-specific glitches can greatly disrupt project timelines. Moreover, the emergence of additional bugs is frequently worsened by a lack of automation, outdated libraries, data inconsistencies, or limited server resources. Despite the fact that test environments generally incur continuous costs, they are only utilized for 30-40% of the time on average, resulting in inefficiencies that could be resolved through better management strategies. This situation underscores the urgent need for innovative approaches that enhance the effectiveness of testing resources while reducing instances of downtime and maximizing productivity. Ultimately, embracing such solutions can lead to a more streamlined development process and improved overall project outcomes.

What is DevZero?

We transition all your development tools into an environment that closely resembles the production setup, allowing for an experience similar to coding directly in the live environment. You can collaborate with teammates through pair programming and effortlessly share your workspace with others, facilitating presentations of your work even to non-engineering stakeholders. This environment is designed based on the production build process, ensuring a secure way to replicate production coding scenarios. If your code performs well in this setting, it is highly likely to operate successfully in the actual production environment. Testing no longer needs to be deferred until after code review or branch merging; instead, you can perform thorough end-to-end testing during the development phase. The full-stack environment accommodates all microservices used in production, enabling real-time validation of your work. This enhancement makes the inner loop more efficient, as end-to-end testing can be conducted before code reviews, which significantly reduces the time to deployment and boosts productivity. Moreover, this streamlined blend of testing and development fosters a more agile, dynamic workflow that can swiftly adapt to changes. Ultimately, this approach not only improves efficiency but also enhances collaboration among teams, paving the way for innovative solutions.
