What is The New York Times API?

Our comprehensive set of APIs provides programmatic access to New York Times data, enabling seamless integration into the applications you are creating. We strive to accommodate a wide range of implementations, from straightforward curated lists to complex data visualizations. Instead of simply consuming news, why not explore it further and drive innovation? Presently, the NYT offers ten public APIs, which include archive, article search, books, most popular, semantic, Times Newswire, TimesTags, and top stories. While these APIs are mainly designed for web developers, we encourage participation from all non-commercial users as well. Like many organizations, we are committed to fostering creativity through collaboration. By developing applications, creating mashups, and harnessing the full potential of our data, you assist us in understanding our readers' preferences and inspiring novel ways to interpret news and information. We are eager to witness the groundbreaking solutions you will create for The Times. Built on a RESTful architecture with a resource-oriented design, our APIs facilitate interactions through secure HTTPS requests, ensuring safe and efficient data exchanges. Each engagement with our APIs not only unlocks new opportunities but also paves the way for advancements in how journalism can be experienced and understood. The potential for innovation is vast, and we look forward to seeing how you utilize our resources to shape the future of news.

What is APITube?

APITube acts as a multifaceted News API, converting worldwide news articles into structured JSON format for easier consumption. It aggregates information from over 500,000 verified sources across more than 180 countries and in over 60 languages, enriching each report with sentiment analysis, recognized entities (including people, organizations, locations, and brands), IPTC classifications, and pertinent topics and industries. Developers benefit from a unified search endpoint that offers over 65 filtering criteria—such as keywords, preferred languages, countries of origin, source domains, quality ratings, sentiment levels, entity tags, media presence, and specific date ranges—enabling them to customize their queries with ease. Additionally, dedicated endpoints grant access to leading headlines, categorized stories, trends over different time frames, and a real-time Server-Sent Events stream, ensuring that new matches are promptly delivered via webhooks as they become indexed. Responses are primarily provided in JSON format, but premium subscriptions also support exports in XML, CSV, TSV, XLSX, JSONL, and Parquet formats. The straightforward authentication process utilizes a single API key, while a hosted MCP server extends the same search functionalities to AI assistants, facilitating the seamless integration of news data into a variety of applications. This comprehensive framework not only empowers users with versatile access to global news information but also enhances the overall efficiency of information retrieval and utilization. Consequently, APITube is an invaluable resource for developers and organizations seeking to harness the power of global news data in a structured and efficient manner.
