What is Trusted Control System?

The Trusted® fault-tolerant control system is meticulously designed to meet a wide array of safety standards. This sophisticated safety instrumented solution utilizes a triple modular redundant (TMR) architecture that accurately identifies the source of faults. When anomalies are detected, the system swiftly acts to rectify these issues, guaranteeing adherence to the necessary safety integrity levels. The TMR structure employs a majority voting process to determine fault origins, with random hardware failures causing one of the three control 'slices' to deviate from the others. This voting strategy effectively captures and records any inconsistencies, ensuring a detailed response to potential issues. Additionally, the Trusted TMR system’s quick reaction to faults further solidifies its capability to fulfill rigorous safety integrity requirements. It integrates smoothly with larger control systems and is fully compatible with our PlantPAx® platform. The system supports both 24-120V DC and 120V I/O modules, boasting high-density I/O capabilities of up to 40 channels per module. Moreover, it complies with safety regulations by conducting partial stroke testing of critical valves, thereby bolstering its dependability in essential applications. This thorough design guarantees that safety and operational efficiency are prioritized in various environments. Ultimately, the Trusted TMR system stands as a robust solution for industries demanding uncompromising safety standards.

What is DBOS?

The DBOS operating system presents a pioneering and enhanced method for creating fault-tolerant cloud applications, revolutionizing the field of cloud-native architecture. This innovative platform is the result of three years of joint open-source research and development conducted by MIT and Stanford, paving the way for a new era in cloud-native solutions. By utilizing a relational database, DBOS effectively simplifies the complex application stacks that are prevalent in today's technology landscape. It forms the foundation of DBOS Cloud, a transactional serverless platform designed to guarantee fault tolerance, observability, cyber resilience, and easy deployment for stateful TypeScript applications. Built on a distributed database management system, the services provided by the operating system offer integrated transactional and fault-tolerant state management, thereby reducing complexity by removing the need for containers, cluster management, or intricate workflow orchestration. This approach ensures exceptional scalability, impressive performance, and reliable availability, with the added benefit of storing metrics, logs, and traces in SQL-accessible tables for efficient data management. Furthermore, the architecture is designed to minimize potential cyber attack vulnerabilities, includes mechanisms for self-detection of cyber threats, and bolsters overall cyber resilience, establishing it as a strong candidate for contemporary cloud applications. Consequently, the DBOS operating system marks a remarkable advancement in the simplification of cloud application development while maintaining high standards of security and reliability, ultimately fostering innovation in the cloud computing space.
