What is Urban Network Analysis Toolbox for ArcGIS?

The City Form Lab has introduced a groundbreaking toolbox tailored for the examination of urban networks. This pioneering ArcGIS toolbox stands out as the first of its kind, incorporating centrality tools that enable the calculation of five unique graph analysis metrics on spatial networks: reach, gravity, betweenness, closeness, and straightness. Furthermore, it contains redundancy tools that compute the redundancy index, pinpoint redundant pathways, and evaluate the wayfinding index. Remarkably, these tools feature three significant capabilities that enhance their utility in spatial analysis of urban street networks. To begin with, they can take into account both geometry and topology in the input networks, allowing the incorporation of metric distance (like meters) and topological distance (such as turns) as impedance factors during analysis. Additionally, unlike previous software that only addressed two network components—nodes and edges—the UNA tools introduce a third component: buildings, which act as the spatial units for all analytical evaluations. This holistic methodology not only bolsters the precision of urban analysis but also yields richer insights into the interactions within urban settings. As urban environments continue to evolve, such tools will be essential for planners and researchers aiming to understand complex urban dynamics.

What is 3D Cityplanner?

Urban redevelopment projects frequently encounter considerable hurdles due to their complex characteristics. Beyond the technical aspects, these initiatives necessitate the involvement of a diverse array of stakeholders and experts, which can lead to conflicting priorities that complicate decision-making and yield suboptimal results. The 3D Cityplanner promotes improved collaboration and helps avert less than ideal decisions. Despite the abundance of available data today, aggregating it can be a challenging endeavor. Our system guarantees that all vital data pertinent to a specific site is smoothly integrated, and it has the capability to automatically gather information from all relevant sources. Acting as an effective tool for swift 3D site assessments, the 3D Cityplanner allows users to easily access critical, location-specific information, laying a solid groundwork for developing a thorough masterplan. Furthermore, its cutting-edge drawing tools and automated generation functions equip users to produce impactful plans quickly and efficiently, thereby enhancing the urban planning workflow. In this way, the 3D Cityplanner not only mitigates the complexities associated with urban redevelopment but also significantly improves the overall quality of planning outcomes, ultimately contributing to more sustainable and well-designed urban environments.
