What is Urban Network Analysis Toolbox for ArcGIS?

The City Form Lab has introduced a groundbreaking toolbox tailored for the examination of urban networks. This pioneering ArcGIS toolbox stands out as the first of its kind, incorporating centrality tools that enable the calculation of five unique graph analysis metrics on spatial networks: reach, gravity, betweenness, closeness, and straightness. Furthermore, it contains redundancy tools that compute the redundancy index, pinpoint redundant pathways, and evaluate the wayfinding index. Remarkably, these tools feature three significant capabilities that enhance their utility in spatial analysis of urban street networks. To begin with, they can take into account both geometry and topology in the input networks, allowing the incorporation of metric distance (like meters) and topological distance (such as turns) as impedance factors during analysis. Additionally, unlike previous software that only addressed two network components—nodes and edges—the UNA tools introduce a third component: buildings, which act as the spatial units for all analytical evaluations. This holistic methodology not only bolsters the precision of urban analysis but also yields richer insights into the interactions within urban settings. As urban environments continue to evolve, such tools will be essential for planners and researchers aiming to understand complex urban dynamics.

What is StreetSaver?

StreetSaver serves as a comprehensive pavement management solution specifically designed to assist municipalities in efficiently overseeing their road networks while managing expenditures effectively. Its user-friendly interface simplifies the process of tracking pavement inventories, offering features like bulk uploads, section splitting, and merging, which collectively enhance inventory management. Furthermore, the software is equipped with robust analytical tools that help users assess budget needs, evaluate various budget scenarios, choose projects, and develop targeted strategies for improving maintenance and rehabilitation efforts. With the inclusion of its GIS Toolbox, StreetSaver provides visual representations of pavement data, facilitating improved analysis and informed decision-making. The software supports multiple methods for entering inspection and maintenance data, including a variety of import formats and mobile data entry capabilities, all in line with ASTM D6433 standards. Users can access over 80 pre-formatted reports and more than 30 graphical representations, streamlining the process of generating detailed analyses and visuals. This extensive array of features renders StreetSaver an essential tool for effective pavement management, making it indispensable for municipalities striving to maintain their infrastructure efficiently. Ultimately, its capabilities not only enhance operational efficiency but also contribute to better resource allocation and long-term planning for road maintenance.
