What is Vexcel?

Vexcel offers a cutting-edge data platform that delivers high-precision aerial imagery, 3D models, elevation data, and AI-generated insights, serving clients in more than 40 countries; it features oblique imagery with about 7.5 cm resolution, orthomosaic imagery for urban and expansive areas, digital surface and terrain models (DSM/DTM), multispectral imagery for evaluating vegetation and land use, and a comprehensive “3D Cities” mesh product, all accessible through APIs, image services compatible with platforms like ArcGIS, a dedicated viewer, and software development kits (SDKs). The platform is backed by a specialized fleet of fixed-wing aircraft equipped with advanced sensors, guaranteeing that each data collection adheres to ground control standards for mapping-grade accuracy. Additionally, its Elements AI product enriches the imagery by extracting over 80 unique attributes pertaining to buildings, properties, and roadways, significantly enhancing the data quality. Vexcel’s vast array of imagery and data services facilitates operations in multiple sectors, encompassing government services such as transportation, urban development, and public safety, alongside industries like telecommunications, utilities, insurance, energy, architecture, engineering, construction (AEC), and smart city initiatives. This diverse and comprehensive strategy enables Vexcel to meet the varied needs of its clients, solidifying its position as a frontrunner in the geospatial data sector. As a result, Vexcel continues to innovate and expand its offerings, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of technological advancements in aerial data solutions.

What is Urban Network Analysis Toolbox for ArcGIS?

The City Form Lab has introduced a groundbreaking toolbox tailored for the examination of urban networks. This pioneering ArcGIS toolbox stands out as the first of its kind, incorporating centrality tools that enable the calculation of five unique graph analysis metrics on spatial networks: reach, gravity, betweenness, closeness, and straightness. Furthermore, it contains redundancy tools that compute the redundancy index, pinpoint redundant pathways, and evaluate the wayfinding index. Remarkably, these tools feature three significant capabilities that enhance their utility in spatial analysis of urban street networks. To begin with, they can take into account both geometry and topology in the input networks, allowing the incorporation of metric distance (like meters) and topological distance (such as turns) as impedance factors during analysis. Additionally, unlike previous software that only addressed two network components—nodes and edges—the UNA tools introduce a third component: buildings, which act as the spatial units for all analytical evaluations. This holistic methodology not only bolsters the precision of urban analysis but also yields richer insights into the interactions within urban settings. As urban environments continue to evolve, such tools will be essential for planners and researchers aiming to understand complex urban dynamics.
