What is ZebraCM?

ZebraCM serves as a more streamlined edition of Zebra2, featuring a thoughtfully curated set of modules that are organized in an intuitive manner. Even with its reduced size, ZebraCM stands out as a versatile synthesizer, offering enough features to captivate users as they prepare to explore the expansive functionalities of Zebra2. This iteration was designed specifically for the audience of Computer Music magazine. It comprises two wavetable oscillators, each equipped with 16 unique waveforms, and includes built-in sync as well as spectral filtering capabilities. Users can leverage a maximum of 16 voices, with options for duophonic, monophonic, and legato modes. The synthesizer also encompasses various noise types, including white, pink, digital, and crackling effects. Moreover, it presents 20 distinct modes that span a wide range of filter types, such as lowpass, bandpass, notch, shelf, and all-pass filters. For modulation purposes, ZebraCM is furnished with three LFOs and two ADSR envelopes that feature rise and fall sustain controls. Effects such as chorus, delay, and reverb are integrated, further enriching its sound design potential. The user interface is designed to be both resizable and skinnable, allowing adjustments between 70% and 200% of its default size for a tailored workspace experience. In addition to these features, ZebraCM includes an impressive library of 221 factory presets, providing users with a robust starting point to delve into its vast sonic landscape and unleash their creativity. What is Hive 2?

Hive 2, developed by u-he, serves as a versatile software synthesizer engineered to deliver outstanding sound quality while ensuring a seamless workflow. It features two oscillators capable of generating classic waveforms or 2D wavetables, each supporting up to 16x unison along with modifiable sub-oscillators. Users can explore three distinct sound engines—normal, dirty, and clean—that allow for extensive customization of their sound profiles. In addition, Hive 2 incorporates an easy-to-use drag-and-drop modulation assignment system, a modulation matrix with 12 slots that includes various modifiers, and four customizable XY control pads for dynamic sound manipulation. Significant highlights include an arpeggiator, a step sequencer with real-time recording options, and a unique 8-step shape sequencer that provides four independent outputs, as well as a diverse array of seven rearrangeable effects like distortion, chorus, delay, phaser, EQ, reverb, and compressor. The user interface is adjustable from 70% to 200%, complemented by an alternative Izmo skin for those seeking aesthetic variety. In addition to these features, Hive 2 comes with over 2,400 factory presets that are compatible with NKS integration, enhancing its utility for music production.
