What is jPDFImages?

jPDFImages is a versatile tool that facilitates the extraction of images from PDF files and the inclusion of images into those same files. This library enables users to convert individual pages from a PDF into various image formats such as JPEG, TIFF, or PNG, and it can also provide any page as a BufferedImage to a Java application for additional manipulation or saving in different formats. Additionally, jPDFImages supports the creation of new documents and the modification of existing ones by allowing the importation of images in formats like TIFF, JPEG, and PNG. After alterations are made, the library can seamlessly save the updated document, making it possible to deliver the file directly to a client’s web browser from within a J2EE environment. Among its key features are the ability to export PDF pages as JPEG or TIFF images, import images into PDFs, and support for the latest PDF 2.0 version. Furthermore, it provides options for saving data to Java output streams or directly to the file system, ensuring compatibility across various operating systems, including Windows, Linux, Unix, and Mac OS X, thanks to its 100% Java architecture. With these capabilities, jPDFImages stands out as a robust solution for managing image content within PDF documents.
