Nothing but good service
Date: Feb 13 2025SummaryExcellent hosting experience for the six sites I manage. I have very long experience with tech support for hosting platforms, and so far, A2 has been the best. We formerly used SiteGround, which once had excellent support, but then began triaging their support and not responding to requests from customers who'd had more than a certain number of issues in the last six months. Ugh. Unacceptable.
PositiveWe're grateful for A2 Hosting tech support. It's timely, addresses the issues squarely (no deflecting or superficial answers, or misunderstanding of the issues). Each call was answered by an extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful representative each rep (David in sales and Chidube and Ken in tech) took great care to listen, anticipate my needs, and assist me with the fundamental insights and direction I need at this early stage using their solutions. What a great team, and what a great user experience. With all other things being more or less equal among whatever product and service providers I'm considering, the quality of and access to support is what seals the deal for me.

PositiveReliable hosting, you can find all necessary tools when you need to create great business. The gang that couldn't shoot straight

PositiveIt's cheap. That's all. It uses cPanel so they can't screw that up. If you are travelling, say in a hotel room and you lose your Wi-Fi signal, your support chat disconnects. Horrible.
Negative1 star is too many. For the last 6 interactions with A2 support (they average 1 per month) I needed to interact (not just open a ticket) with them 5 times on average to get the problem resolved. The last 2 interactions were necessary because of the migration A2 did and I had no opportunity to prevent. Unbelievable incompetence.

I have, due to being unable to work, not much money. Therefore I'm happy with the affordable offers for unmanaged hosting.PositiveI desperately needed a website, since i wasn't able to work due to a nerve disease the last two years, but with the new medication it got a lot better. Sadly, during this phase of illness and desperation, i wasn't able to work.
So I'm standing here with a lot of expertise, no money, but i need to build a reputation:
I need a virtual private server, where i can soon document my progress and whats possible in the topic my company will be active. Furthermore a vpn server.
So i took the cheapest vps offer from A2, and since its 24 years ago since i was unix admin, i forgot all the details.
But luckily, the service chat at A2 helped me to resolve every issue i ran into, despite i paid only $3 for the first month.
This customer service is better than everything i experienced so far.
And since i have an university diploma in computer science and a masters degree in machine learning, i often had expensive contracts with bad customer service.
A2 is inexpensive and has excellent customer service.NegativeThe tutorials on the website are a bit hard to understand. Also for unmanaged vps there are obviously not a lot.

We sincerely apologize for the serious issues with our website, iaesprime dot com. The website is hosted by A2 Hosting, but the vendor is unwilling to cooperate. We are still unable to access the service. Due to the problem, A2 hosting does not provide any information or explanations. We contacted them several times, but A2 Hosting did not respond positively, despite the fact that they had not yet taken any action. A2 Hosting provides very poor service.
A2 Hosting always updates us on open tickets, but we do not have access to the server. A2 Hosting lied by not opening a ticket to resolve the issue.
We are currently working to create our journal "Computer Science and Information Technologies, ISSN 2722-323X, e-ISSN 2722-3221" from scratch at the new domain.

Date: Apr 15 2024SummaryLikely the company got bought out unannounced and they are cost cutting on their way to be another bargain basement garbage host. That, or they got "hacked" and are currently over-reacting to their poor infosec. Either way, I am taking my business elsewhere, as I am no longer receiving what I paid for.
PositiveTheir pricing is decent. Their support used to be decent, and even offered phone support. It isn't anymore though.
NegativeIt is NOT OKAY for a company to unilaterally make changes to how hosting operates, neuter tools admins had before (leaving them there, but non-functional) and requiring a SUPPORT TICKET for what should be a basic cpanel change. Especially when I spent an HOUR trying to get your garbage "support" to pick up the phone on the day I found out about this unannounced change. I am sure you got "hacked" & I am sure it was because a customer had their server open to remote connections. Ultimately that is the customer's call to make. The better response to this would have been to test for brute-forcing on the MySQL port, and to firewall repeated failed attempts to log in -- which is what most hosts do. Ham-fistedly shutting down all remote connections, breaking the ability to wildcard, and removing functional control of my connections in cpanel, then expecting me to make a SUPPORT REQUEST every time an IP addresses changes is a clown show put on by amateurs. Your competitors aren't doing this. I'm leaving

I have several of my own websites related to my artwork, my community, and the towns nearby, and I have also developed websites for clients. I have been self-employed for my entire career, and I have used the web since it began in the last century. I still need a lot of help since I am mostly an artist.
PositiveI received wonderful support from A2 hosting when I had issues with my websites, that were due in large part to my lack of expertise. I learned a lot about when to make backups, staging sites, and when to not make too many staging sites daisy chained. Even though my lack of skill caused the A2 staff a lot of extra work, they were very helpful and patient with me as we worked it out. I will not make the same mistake again of getting my work tangled up, and we got it all sorted out nicely. I highly recommend A2 hosting for their team, their equipment, their skill and their patience.
NegativeIt did take a day or two to hear back from my emailing a ticket, but I knew I could call them with my ticket number to speed things up, and I chose not to do that. They give a lot of attention to each ticket, and I knew that the issue was my mistake.
