What is Airmob?

Airmob acts like the Waze for air pollution, delivering real-time air quality updates at the street level to help families breathe cleaner air. Known as the “Waze of Pollution,” it tackles the urgent issue of smog, which significantly affects urban areas and is frequently ignored by residents who may not realize its harmful health effects. This oversight is largely due to inadequate data stemming from a limited number of monitoring stations; for example, Santiago, Chile has only ten, while Mexico City and Paris have 28 and 22, respectively. These stations often provide misleading data because they use 24-hour averages, which can distort the actual air quality experienced throughout the day and across different parts of the city. Since smog can change and vary significantly across urban landscapes, Airmob’s innovative application transforms the way we understand air quality by leveraging hundreds of Citysense sensors placed strategically around the city, measuring particulate matter levels like PM 2.5 and PM 10 in real time on a street-by-street basis. As a result, users are empowered to make educated decisions regarding outdoor activities based on the latest air quality information available, ultimately fostering improved health and well-being for themselves and their families. By ensuring access to accurate and timely data, Airmob plays a critical role in raising awareness and promoting proactive measures against air pollution.
