What is Amp?
Amp is a frontier coding agent designed to redefine how developers interact with AI during software development. Built for use in terminals and modern editors, Amp allows engineers to orchestrate powerful AI agents that can reason across entire repositories, not just isolated files. It supports advanced workflows such as large-scale refactors, architecture exploration, agent-generated code reviews, and parallel course correction with forced tool usage. Amp integrates leading AI models and layers them with robust context management, subagents, and continuous tooling improvements. Developers can let agents run autonomously, trusting them to produce consistent, high-quality results across complex projects. With strong community adoption, rapid feature releases, and a focus on real engineering use cases, Amp stands out as a premium, agent-first coding platform. It empowers developers to ship faster, explore deeper, and build systems that would otherwise require significantly more time and effort.

Awesome tool!
Date: May 03 2024SummaryI love Amp, I'm very excited about the future of this tool. I think it should grow over the other AI tools in the industry.
PositiveTakes the context of your code to give you answers, the vscode extension is awesome and support was incredibly fast when I had an issue.
NegativeSometimes the context is not that accurate, and the latest version came out bugged

Valuable support for Python development
Date: May 04 2024SummaryI think it is very good value for the cost. Integration with IDE and reading the context are the the core capabilities for me.
PositiveGood integration with Pycharm, unit tests support, solving quickly programming challenges. The biggest pros -> reading whole source code project and proposing the answer based on the rest of the code.
NegativeNot following the pattern in a single chat even. F.ex. if I polish the tests to be using that framework or that way to mock it for one set of tests, for next method, it is forgetting my earlier "style".

Loving it
Date: Jul 19 2023SummaryOverall this has been a nice tool to speed up my development time. I'm still more of a novice developer so this tool has made me feel much more confident and allowed me to take on more complex projects since Im no longer copying and pasting from my browser into my IDE.
Big fan it's worth the try and it was free to get started.PositiveAmp was easy to get started with and it's very intuitive to use. This has been a nice alternative to coding with ChatGPT up in a browser where I have to copy and paste my code back and forth. I'm a big fan of the preset prompts as there are a few I would never have thought of asking.
NegativeNot too many drawbacks outside of the general limitations of the AI. There have been a couple of times I've asked it to rewrite code for me and I had to prompt it to get it to give me an example in actual code vs just advice about how to improve the code.
