What is Chromis POS?

You may have noticed the updated Chromis Logo displayed prominently at the top, a change that came about after consultations with various stakeholders who felt that a more streamlined design was essential. This refreshed logo is set to be introduced with the next iteration of Chromis POS, which is currently under active development utilizing OpenJFX version 11. The decision to transition to OpenJFX was influenced by the recent updates to Oracle's Java licensing model. Among the new features expected in this release are a loyalty program and gift card capabilities, while we will be phasing out the integrated Derby database engine. Although Chromis POS is still in its formative stages, it has origins linked to an open-source POS system known as Unicenta, which itself is a derivative of Openbravo. My journey with Unicenta began when I was searching for a POS solution for a friend's tropical fish shop, marking a significant turning point. As we strive to enhance and evolve Chromis POS further, we eagerly anticipate rolling out additional improvements in forthcoming updates, ensuring it meets the needs of our users. This commitment to innovation highlights our dedication to providing a superior point-of-sale experience.
