Unique and powerful tool for photographers and filmmakers

    Date: Jul 21 2025
    Summary

I use color.io daily as my main raw photo developer, and it’s also become my go-to tool for creating LUTs for video work. It’s not just powerful, it’s a joy to use. The film presets are truly exceptional, offering rich, authentic looks that rival anything I’ve seen. The tools for film emulation are second to none in terms of both quality and creative flexibility.

What really sets color.io apart for me is how thoughtfully it’s designed. The interface makes complex grading and image development intuitive, and it’s one of the few tools that actually feels fun to use. I also love that it works on my iPhone and can function offline - great for travel or working on the go!

There are a few features I’d love to see, like layers and masks, but considering how fast the app is evolving (hundreds of updates already), I’m confident they’ll come. Color.io is a breath of fresh air in the world of image and color tools. Truly something special.

    Positive

Color.io is stunningly designed and genuinely fun to use. The Film presets are some of the best I’ve ever used and the film emulation tools are of extremely high-quality.
Overall Color.io is really great for both raw photo development and LUT creation and it works seamlessly on iPhone and offline as a web app. It gets frequent updates and is under active development.

    Negative

Web app install process is a bit awkward at first but no real biggie once setup. It is missing some advanced features like layers and masks (as of July 2025)
