Discord is like the biggest social media platform nobody talks about. It's like reddit, but more of an instant-messaging app than a forum-based community. Either way, it is very helpful and convenient. Plus, it's free and multi-platform.

Discord is packed with features that work well. Instant voice messaging, screen sharing, media file sharing - everything can be done seamlessly. There are thousands of servers and group discussions in not just gaming, but practically every field. It is the best app to ask for help or support from experienced users, with schoolwork, technology, blogging, or gaming as it was originally intended for. I love the bots that make managing channels easier, and the variety of gifs, stickers and messaging options outshine all other messaging apps. It works equally well across all devices - PCs and mobile. Simple and powerful.

It took me a while to get used to the technicalities of the app, even though there isn't much. The bots and multiple channels and access rights can be intimidating for a beginner.

Discord also functions as a collaboration tool internally as well, similar to Zoom, Teams, and even Slack. For a small company, Discord could really do everything needed for collaboration internally and externally.

The fact that Discord was initially intended as a way for people to chat while playing video games has limited its application in the eyes of many users. While they've recently rebranded themselves slightly, their icon still looks like a gaming controller. They should consider a more significant rebrand to grow their appeal to other industries.

As Discord continues to grow, they should add a feature that allows users to be logged into more than one account at once (similar to how you can switch easily between email accounts). Users are starting to have personal and professional accounts on the platform, and currently you have to log out all the way to switch.

Discord is the fun, quirky brother of the chat protocols, and it works well for that. Being able to jump between many different discords and link them together is very useful, but for a serious business, it wouldn't be my first choice.

Discord is an astounding stage when you need fast correspondence and input in one or the other work or social conditions. I've used this for over a year now. It worked well for what I needed it to do then, but I've moved on to other software since then that have more features. Discord was originally intended as a program for gamers to share content and chat, and it shows. While many are working toward expanding features as more and more people have to work or go to school from home, Discord lags behind in features and quality. It's still decent, but it doesn't compare to what else is out there now. It's best suited for what it was made for, and that's not really a bad thing. Could be better with some minor tweaks and added features, but it's decent as is.

It's easy to set up channels, moderate content and users. Audio is alright, video quality is acceptable. There's a light and dark mode, and it's compatible across all devices, making it useful to use on the go. You can have a large number of users per server and plenty of channels. There is a channel limit, but most users would not likely hit it. Channels can be organized by categories as well.

The character limit on this isn't great. You can't get much out before you've hit the limit. Basic things like uploading gifs and anything but the smallest of files require a paid account. There are other software out there that let you do those things for free. Sorting through information and keeping track of anything is a pain, even with pins. Screen sharing isn't all that great either, which is ironic given the software's original purpose. No threaded comments either. Not a big deal, but having them would be nice.

Its a great way to co ordinate with your gaming partners in an online multiplayer games. I met a lot of funny people from around the world on this app.
