What is Edison Mail?

Managing emails often takes up a significant portion of our day, typically revolving around themes of innovation and productivity. Over time, the core principles of effective communication have sadly become less clear. To address this issue, we initiated a project aimed at developing the ultimate mobile email experience. With clearly defined categories, the app's assistant organizes your messages efficiently, making your search much simpler. Just as peanut butter and jelly make a perfect pair, the features in this app work seamlessly together. Stay informed with timely notifications about your flight status, including any delays, cancellations, or changes to your gate. You can also monitor price drops on recent purchases, giving you the chance to save money through helpful alerts. The assistant provides access to weather updates for your trips, ensuring you pack appropriately for your destination. Additionally, you will receive real-time updates on your package deliveries, with easy access to tracking details through the assistant. If you're overwhelmed by newsletters and mailing lists, the app can help you pinpoint those that you might want to unsubscribe from. Furthermore, the assistant allows for quick access to directions for your upcoming flight or hotel, facilitating smooth navigation with just one tap. By integrating these various features, our goal is to significantly improve your email management experience and help you reclaim valuable time in your day.

    May 21, 2026

    Date: May 22 2026
    Summary

Like the other user said: RUN. Do not *ever use Edison Mail. For that matter, don't ever trust any company offering a 'Free' service, and that includes the Big Four. When something like this happens, you'll need the extra leverage of being a paid customer to be able to do anything.

    Positive

I used to like this app, and have been using it for the last four or five years, but there are no longer any 'Pros' given what just happened.

    Negative

Just had the same experience as the September 2025 user. I've been using Edison Mail mobile and desktop apps for the last four or five years, and suddenly I can no longer access my desktop app. There's only a notification window -- with no Close button, so it can't be closed -- with an asinine smiley face and text that says Edison is switching to mobile-only immediately, Edison is removing the desktop app from the App Store, and Edison won't respond to any requests for support. The window can't even be expanded in order to see all of the text, which is insane.

Although there is text that says "You can keep using it if you'd like, but starting now...", there's no way to use it since the window can't be closed and there's a error message in the background that says something about "wound". This is total BS.

They gave ZERO advance notification about this. All of this is a complete violation of industry standards, but I guess who cares because standards don't exist any more, right?

Now I need to figure out the implications of a company doing whatever it wants with all of my personal email, as they've done with this desktop app. Given this and the issues they've had over the years -- and I thought I had done enough research -- you can be absolutely sure they're doing some back-door thing where they've given access to all of their users' personal emails to train AI or some other money-making grab to save what is apparently their failing business.

Cannot Trust them if they close all desktop Edison emails without notice, I have 78 emails I needed right then ! they locked the page with a message saying sorry we are not working with desktop's anymore as of Now!

    Date: Sep 18 2025
    Summary

Not Professional ! who closes the door on its desktop customers like that , Think about it ! Why would they be so non-caring ? Run

    Positive

Worked really good , No problems with how it handled my email accounts but read the cons, NO TRUST ! normal people do not do business like this and that is why I just downloaded SPARK email !

    Negative

Cannot Trust them if they close all desktop Edison emails without notice, I have 78 emails I needed right then ! they locked the page with a message saying sorry we are not working with desktop's anymore as of Now!
I had almost 1 year of work in my account ! They say they are only going to work with cell phone users ! Even a F-ing 1 day notice would have let me get my stuff closed down .

    No S/MIME support

    Date: Jun 20 2023
    Summary

Meh. Not bad, but there is nothing outstanding about it - it's like dozens of other email clients out there. Lots of bells and whistles, but mostly stuff that I, for one, would just disable. Its fatal flaw is on the the security side, by not offering S/MIME support. It's OK if you want to exchange emails with your buddies, but not good enough for a serious professional setting.

    Positive

It looks fine, with all the bells and whistles that one would expect. Pretty much par for the course for this kind of thing.

    Negative

No S/MIME support. This is a complete deal breaker for me: without S/MIME support this is not a good fit in professional settings, certainly not in mine.
