What is Fender Notion?

Fender Notion is a music composition and notation platform that provides tools for writing, arranging, editing, and playing back musical scores. The software supports traditional staff notation, guitar tablature, bass tablature, and percussion notation for creating arrangements across different musical styles. Users can compose music through interactive piano keyboards, guitar fretboards, drum pads, and compatible external MIDI devices. Its notation editor provides controls for entering notes, rests, chord symbols, key signatures, time signatures, and other elements of written music. Composers can add articulations, dynamics, expressions, and performance markings to specify how individual passages should be played. Fender Notion includes sampled instrument sounds, including orchestral performances recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios. Additional sampled instruments provide playback options for guitar, bass, drums, piano, and other commonly used instruments. A multitrack mixer enables users to adjust instrument levels and listen to arrangements with different playback balances. The application provides customizable interface settings and supports score creation and editing across compatible desktop and mobile operating systems. Its integration with Fender Studio Pro allows users to exchange note data between notation projects and digital audio workstation sessions over a local network. Optional capabilities include handwriting recognition, expanded instrument libraries, multiple export formats, and wireless score transfers between supported devices.

    Almost perfect, until they updated.

    Updated: May 26 2023
    Summary

Why improve something that is perfect? Really a sad situation for us. I wish they would not made changes to retrograde the product.

    Positive

I could have given this app 5 stars, until they updated to Notion 6. I had arranged music and had loved the full London Symphony sampling. Its amazing how easy to use it on my iPad.

    Negative

Until they put on the next update, changed the layout of the tools. The mandolins used to play on in a regular beat of its own, wether your tempo is slow, it performs the actual tremolo sampling, not being dependent on the set tempo. After the update, it lost its original natural tremolo tempo. The tremolo had became dependent on the tempo that it sounds so midi. If the beat is fast, the tremolo goes fast, and actually too fast it was so unnatural. If the tempo is slow, the instrument lost its tremolo, it just became a slow up-down picking.

Before however, it was perfect. Some programing algorithm must have changed. I had complained about this to the company, but they don't seem to know what is going on. Even sent samples of the difference. But they never bothered.
