What is Herdr?
Herdr is a multiplexer and terminal-oriented runtime designed specifically for developers who work with AI coding assistants, command-line interfaces, tests, and a variety of other tools. It organizes tasks into separate workspaces, tabs, and panes managed by a background server, ensuring that processes continue to run smoothly even if the client disconnects. Users can reattach locally or access Herdr from various machines using SSH. The software detects compatible coding agents, displaying their status as operational, blocked, idle, or completed, and it guarantees that native agent sessions remain active after a server restart. With a command-line interface and a local socket API, users can write scripts and agents to monitor sessions, control panes, launch or interact with agents, and respond to state changes. Developers can also personalize keybindings and themes, enhancing their workflows with local executable plugins. Herdr is compatible with macOS, Linux, and Windows, and is released under the Apache 2.0 license. Its innovative design seeks to simplify the development process by fostering an efficient environment for multitasking and effective management of coding activities, ultimately aiming to improve productivity among developers. By providing a structured and dynamic interface, Herdr empowers users to focus on their coding projects with ease and flexibility.
