Our account with Hunter.io was originally created years ago under an outdated company email that is no longer in use. Recently, that account was compromised. Unauthorized purchases of lead credits and service upgrades were made, and our billing details were misused — all without our awareness or consent.

Hunter’s response?
They declined to issue a refund and deflected responsibility, pointing fingers at us for “too many users having access to the account.” This completely sidesteps the real issue: Hunter’s platform failed to provide even basic security safeguards.

Let’s break it down:

No fraud detection or alerts were triggered, despite hundreds of IP address changes within a short timeframe — a glaring signal of suspicious activity in any SaaS platform that handles payment data.
All notifications went to a long-retired email address we had clearly mentioned as inactive during our support outreach. There were no alerts, no backup contact attempts, and no verification processes initiated.
The account's original creator, a former employee who left five years ago, was cited by Hunter as justification for the activity — despite having no current access to our systems, data, or team.
There’s no identity verification or admin oversight required to create a Hunter account under a company domain. Anyone with an email at your domain can spin up an account with zero controls or visibility. That’s not just poor design — it’s a significant security loophole.
In the end, Hunter leaned on vague Terms of Service language to wash their hands of responsibility, even after the platform was clearly exploited. No temporary account freeze. No proactive outreach. Just scripted responses after the damage was done.
This isn't merely about a refund. It’s a fundamental product and security failure.

We’ve since migrated to platforms that take security and admin control seriously — with real-time login alerts, enforced MFA, IP anomaly detection, and centralized account management. These aren’t luxury features — they’re essential for any service operating at scale.

It offers to have an auto verification process for email marketing. It makes it easy to manage the subscriber list and its contacts. Easy to use for business email campaigns.

It is the best tool If you have limited needs for finding email Ids. It works great and is powerful. I would not suggest this tool for those who need mass email IDs because It won't be cost-effective.

I like the Intelligence of this tool, It gets you email Ids by doing an in-depth scanning of search engine. I am currently using seamless.ai and hunter.io and both are excellent tools. It gives me accurate email Ids of working professionals. The feature of verifying email IDs for checking if it will bounce or not helps immensely.

The cost and having no subscription option for finding unlimited email ids is the downside of this tool. It also does not have a proper User Interface where users can use advance filters and save the results.

Hunter offers advanced email Marketing solution through its Email validation tool and Domain search tool. It offers API interface which make it very easy to integrate with your product or CRM to access all the feature directly from the product. It offers quite satisfactory analytics which help getting an overview impression of the performance and health of the email database.

It is a great platform and the Domain search feature is add-on with the Email validation tool, which make it quite unique to use. No Cons.
