A once good collaborative site that went downhill
Date: Jan 19 2025SummaryHi, I am a lifelong artist who has been using this "Magma" (formerly aggie.io) since 2017. Back then, everything was free and simple and you were able to save your files as separate layers for free and there was no storage limit whatsoever. It was just alot better back then and it was much easier to save the doodles that you liked. I even had an old account back when it use to be called aggie.
However, when I returned today, it wasn't called aggie.io anymore, they took away alot of the features that use to be free and put it behind a paywall. When I tried to login, I had errors, and discovered there was no account with the same email address I used to sign up with in the past. I had to create a completely new account from scratch, but luckily I had all my past drawings saved back then, the important ones anyway. But I didn't realise aggie/magma is deleting accounts now and is now putting free things behind paywalls, it use to be good but I guess it's not so cool anymore. The only thing that came good about this new "Magma" thing was the profiles/social feature, but everything else is just overall not good anymore.
While aggie now has this art social thing going on, you may aswell use Weasyl if you want a good social art site. I know most art sites don't have the collaborative drawing program attached, but that's where alternatives to aggie comes in, or simply using an art program like Medibang if you want to do more solo artwork.
Welp, time to migrate to a better art collaboration program. It was fun while it lasted but I think it's time to move on, I'm not paying for things that were originally suppose to be free to begin with, Aggie is just not good anymore you're better finding alternatives that are actually free. Anyways, I'm moving. Peace ☮PositiveYou can still use it for silly doodles and it's easy to invite friends while not having to worry about making it public I guess
Oh and they now have profiles and online statuses but those are the only good things that came out of this really.NegativeThey changed the name from "aggie.io" to the unrememberable "Magma" which can be confusing for old users, especially those returning like myself. Magma is an easily forgettable name since my friends and I always knew it as aggie.io

They put "Save layers" behind a paywall when it use to be free.
There's now a storage limit on how much you can save at one time which never use to happen and now you have to upgrade.
Alot of good features are now behind a paywall and are not free anymore, the staff are money hungry now.
If you were a very old user like I was then bad news, your account is probably deleted if you had one.
