    Nutshell has been a great resource for our small but growing company. Set up and customization has been extremely easy as Nutshell's support team is great at what they do. Although we have encountered some limitations within Nutshell, we have been able to effectively work around them to accomplish our goals. The price, the plug-and-play nature of the CRM, and the support we have experienced have made Nutshell a great option for us at this stage of our organizational journey.

    Overall, I would recommend it for smaller businesses. I am unable to speak to the level of complexity that nutshell accommodates, as we use it for its most basic features and functions. It is great for tracking our network/people and our favorite feature is the ability to tag individuals.

    We love the tagging feature to help organize and keep track of our contacts. Everything is fairly straightforward and easy to use with intuitive UX/UI. We also like the task and note feature for individual contacts. Building out emails was easy enough and the design was nice and the templates were easy to use.

    Wish there was a field for inputing birthdays as we are a high touch, personal business - maybe I am missing it? The email feature could be slightly improved (speaking from only using it a couple of times) - our main issue was that we had multiple contacts who never received the emails. When we used other email platforms, these same contacts did receive the emails.

    A Flexible CRM That's Actually Relevant to Sales People

    At our branch, we like to joke that some of our team don't like it when someone "moves their cheese" (i.e. changes things). Every team has some degree of this and it's a significant roadblock to the use of CRM packages. Perhaps the best way I can describe our experience with Nutshell is to say that even our most change-averse team members have come around quickly and easily and now use it happily.

    CRM tools have always felt and worked out more like reporting tools for corporate leadership at the top of sales organizations. Nutshell is the exact opposite. It's given our team a platform to support day-to-day sales work on an individual and team basis. Well over a year in, we're still discovering new ways to benefit from the ease of use and flexibility in Nutshell's design.

    The key to a successful CRM is adoption. Nutshell is fast, sleek and well thought out. Its effortless workflow makes it easy to integrate into the daily routine of our sales team. It has become an indispensable part of my day to day work responsibilities.

    The overall workflow is easy and efficient. The attention to detail is apparent in just about everything I do. A great example is the integration between the mobile and desktop apps. If I search a customer on my mobile device and switch back to my desktop, that same account is what I see. Customization is also very powerful. It's also a very agile program which is important for a cloud based application.

    I'd like to see more functionality with the map. Navigation, trip optimization and more sales data visualizations would be great. It would be nice to have the ability to assign territories to sales people and vendors.

    Lot Of Great Features and Innovations; A Few Glitches To Work Out

    Overall, I like Nutshell but am often nervous when I send broadcasts and have had repeated issues with glitches on the broadcast side of Nutshell. Additionally, it isn't always straight forward the best way to implement companies into the mix of tags, leads, and audiences in terms of a funnel and the number of tag options is sometimes confusing. There are definitely aspects of Nutshell that are answering issues users have with other CRMs but it still falls behind its major competition in terms of ease of use and amount of glitches that still need worked through.

    Nutshell offers A lot of diverse and intuitive ways to funnel and categorize clients, send broadcasts, and automate work. The fact that Nutshell now has their own forms is huge because products like Zapier are a glitchy pain in the butt. That being said, a CRM like InfusionSoft or Salesforce both have easier pipelines and more straightforward lead tracking; literally allowing you to move people from box to box like a you're in a child's computer game which is simpler than Nutshell's system.

    Negative

    The Broadcast options are behind competitors for sure and glitch way more. If nutshell wants people to use them as their wholistic one stop CRM shop, they need to create a better way to check for spam filters (my deliverability rates are low on Nutshell and I am not able to troubleshoot why with spam test). Also, Nutshell doesn't help you optimize broadcasts for SEO, which is beneficial, and there just don't seem to be the easy to plug in creative options in terms of design that a company like ConstantContact offers.

    A Game Changer for The Reuse Network

    Quite simply, we could not manage our business without Nutshell. Or if we did, we'd need more staff, more time, and more stress. The addition of Nutshell marketing in the last year has been particularly transformative. With that addition our outbound marketing is much more comprehensive, more frequent, much better organized, and demonstrably more successful. That's been a game-changer.

    -- Organize and keep track of our clients, vendors, service providers, and partners

    In other words, outside of our accounting function, there is not a single aspect of our business in which Nutshell has not become an integral and essential part.

    Hardly least important: Nutshell support has always been fantastic. Prompt, attentive, thoughtful, and persistent in following through to a successful outcome. We were a pretty early user of Nutshell, and Nutshell's support has retained the sense (and reality) of personal care and attention, where so many others let their support devolve into impersonal and frustrating AI (emphasis on the I, precious little I) non-support.

    Negative

    The single lingering hassle is in email integration, where to attach an email thread to a specific Lead, you need to include the phrase "Lead-1234" in the subject line. The last thing I want is for our clients to think of themselves as "Leads", so we cannot use this feature, which leads to email overload in our Nutshell records. Why not "Ref-1234", or "Doc-1234"? Anything but "Lead".

    The Search function is sometimes a little squirrely.

    In general we are happy with Nutshell. It has become a critical part of our growing business. We tried a couple of choices when we realized we needed a CRM and settled on Nutshell. We have been glad we did.

    It is easy to use. Quick, useful reports, I don't have to have a 2 week training course to use the product. It has been stable and working when we need the software, and don't worry about it being the 'System of Record' for our prospect and client information.

    Generally not a lot of cons. The price is a touch higher than I would like, but so far I haven't felt it was more than the software was worth. Just on the edge. As a smaller company I feel we have to balance access to Nutshell due to cost. It the price was lower we would likely give more access.

    Summary

    Overall I'm very happy with nutshell, we've had no issues with the platform in the last year, although we had to do a lot of tailoring to make it more applicable for our government customers/data. Customer service from Nutshell is great and timely.

    Positive

    The design and layout is very simple and straigtforward, although the first day it took me a little while to truly understand the design and functions. Once you understand the layout it becomes very easy to continually use/scale.

    The custom fields are great as it allows us to create fields for data that is necessary to track for our company.

    Price is another big pro and one of the primary reasons we went with Nutshell. Nutshell is cheaper than our old platform but is still able to provide all the capabilities we need. Also the easy of adding/removing users and licenses/changing our billing is great.

    Negative

    The tool is more commercially tailored- not truly meant to be used for people whose customers are government agencies. Would like to see a capability for it to expand for govcon users.

    There is also a noticeable deficiency in the ability to make analytic reports based on your data from your pipeline. Although pulling the data into excel and doing the reports ourselves is a simple workaround.

    Although the import of our data from our previous platform done by Nutshell seemed the easiest approach, it caused more work ultimately since our customers are government agencies. When the data was imported it didn't go in the correct fields or the data didn't make much sense in the fields provided by Nutshell or had to be in custom fields entirely. If I could do it all over again I would've probably transferred the data myself. I'm sure if we were a commercial company, the data transition would've been a lot easier.
