What is Paseo?
Paseo is an open-source development environment specifically designed for developers working with AI coding agents. It supports coding-agent providers that can be hosted on local machines, development servers, or various platforms, and provides a range of client options, including desktop, web, mobile, and command-line interfaces, to facilitate efficient management. Developers can run multiple agents simultaneously within separate Git worktrees, organize sessions into well-structured workspaces, modify files, check diffs, use terminals and an integrated browser, and manage pull requests with ease. In addition, Paseo includes features like scheduling, voice commands, plugins, and orchestration through MCP, complemented by a CLI and a TypeScript SDK. The system's daemon operates locally, inside Docker containers, or on remote servers, allowing clients to connect directly or through an optional encrypted relay for enhanced security. Furthermore, the optional Paseo Hub expands the platform's functionality by integrating triggers from GitHub, Slack, and Discord, enhancing its overall capabilities. Users must install and authenticate their coding-agent providers and provide the necessary credentials, while Paseo ensures that it does not offer any agent services, allowing users to retain control over their development environments. This architecture not only provides a highly customizable experience but also prioritizes security, catering to the unique requirements of each developer. Ultimately, Paseo enables developers to harness the power of AI coding agents while maintaining flexibility and control throughout their workflow.
