Helped us scale up
Date: Oct 23 2020SummaryThis is a fully featured product designed to scale and work without problems. It is regularly updated and Percona can be relied upon for support if you have complex needs or challenges. I have no difficulty recommending this to those who want a more feature rich environment without losing on reliability.
PositivePXC allowed our business to ramp up without the usual challenges in scaling up. The product is an excellent drop-in replacement and required little change in our operation during integration and management.
NegativeAs a mature product, the documentation and related articles are useful but don't always feel fresh and current.

XtraDB Cluster
Date: Oct 06 2020SummarySoftware is very good and pretty mature, I use it as multi-region DB solution. We decided to use it due to free features comparing to for example Cockroachdb.
PositiveXtraDB Cluster offers lot of Enterprise features for free like encryption at rest, hot backup. Comparing to MariaDB it offers better documentation IMHO.
NegativeTo be honest I cannot find even one. I tried to use XtraDB Cluster Operator but there is no feature like multi-region so I had to build everything manually.

PXC 5.7 Helped Resolved Our Performance Issues
Date: Dec 10 2020SummaryOverall, we have been very happy with our performance since switching to PXC 5.7. Our databases can handle a much higher level of simultaneous transactions than before.
PositiveMigrating to PXC 5.7 helped fix our performance issues as previously our production environment could not handle the traffic at our peaks. Since moving to PXC, our environments are performing much better.
NegativeThe overall system is a little more complicated to manage than our previous environment.

Good product for applications that need scalability and high availability
Date: Dec 12 2020SummaryPercona XtraDB Cluster allows the creation, administration and monitoring of the cluster of several Percona Server or MySQL servers, thus offering a response to the scalability requirements of those applications that see an increase in their number of transactions.
PositiveThis tool offers automatic provisioning of nodes thanks to the Incremental Snapshot Transfer functionality that allows saving the last transactions so that when a node is left out of the cluster and rejoins some time later, it will synchronize with the rest of the nodes, reading the pending transactions.
A cluster configured with Percona XtraDB Cluster allows the inclusion of three or more servers in a single logical structure where all have all the data and the same reading and writing capacities.
These clusters ensure that a query can be resolved by any of the servers without the need for remote access, and in the event that a node fails, the cluster will continue to operate in high availability.NegativeThe replication of the information of the nodes sometimes does not get to have a good performance since the update is carried out synchronously. This means that the update time of a node may be higher than in the other nodes.

Great Galera cluster solution
Date: Oct 07 2020SummaryI have used Percona XtraDB Cluster for the last 4-5 years and I think it's a great product. If you are lucky enough to have Percona Support it's a winning combination. But even if you don't have the budget and want to spend nothing, use it. I really think is the best Galera implementation out there!
Opinions expressed here are my own and not the opinions of my employer.PositiveI have used Percona XtraDB Cluster as a synchronous cluster solution for quite a long time now and it's stable, very stable. I have also used other Galera implementations and they had frequent glitches and problems. But PXC just works.
Opinions expressed here are my own and not the opinions of my employer.NegativeOnly 2 cons;

1. PXC cannot be faster than your network. Try to keep the latency between the nodes low or your performance will decrease.
2. Online DDL is not longer online in a cluster. Any DDL will impact the rest of your operations, plan with care.
