I would highly recommend this app to all the writers I know! It is versatile, exceedingly helpful, and gives me so much joy to use.

Plottr helps me organize all my chaotic thoughts. It has every feature I could ever possibly need, and it is completely intuitive with a beautiful design.

I wish the Attributes feature was a little more simplified in terms of usage.

Very good experience. I have recommended this product on my blog and in a free ebook on writing that I am creating. I encourage others to give it a try because it is an excellent product.

I was surprised by all the things it could do. I love that you can put each character in and then lay out your subplots and see how they all stack up so you can adjust where necessary.

Nothing so far. I've only used it for a short period of time, but so far so good.

This is my favorite plotting software and I've tried everything from Aeon Timeline, to novel factory, to Notion to Scrapple. It can export to scrivener. You can import templates. It's rad. It makes you work efficiently whether you are a plotter or pantser or anywhere in-between.

Good for any project that requires a timeline, from creative writing to business planning to wedding planning etc. Great for planning a whole series as well as individual plots and arcs within each story within the series. basically like novel factory and notion combined into one, and then streamlined to get rid of all the visual clutter and filler.

My only qualm is it is still a bit busy for me visually. I would love to have the option to have it simplified so there is less typographical variety etc. just personal preference though. there is a dark mode which is rad.

I still find it a useful too and enjoy using it. The many templates give me options to follow, also giving the main pieces of that template. I like being able to like characters and places to plot ideas. This is a great product.

It’s helpful to access my plots from whichever device I’m using. Whenever ideas pop into my head, I can drop them into my file.

Often the phone version is slow to open, which delays me being able to use it in short timeframes. Sometimes the phone version is hard to use because some areas are too large or too small.

Really great program. I've never come across another that can do all this one does. It's great to use.

The program is smooth and intuitive with very regular updates. I love the way the team are constantly adding new features and thinking ahead.

Customer service is also excellent and they really get stuck in if you have a problem.
Everything meshes really well and it adapts to many different views and ways of working, so however you like to plan, this software is up to the task.

Also links seamlessly with Scrivener, which is always a great bonus.

In the scene cards it would be nice to be able to see the scene's description and attributes sections on the same screen. Other than that I think it great.

I am massively impressed by the software and I've been telling everyone I associate with who writes that it was the best writing decision I've made so far. I can finally visually organize my thoughts without feeling like I am wasting a metric ton of paper and Ink.

I really like the visual organization, and the ability to change the layout so that it best fits the way I organize my thoughts. The ability to sort by Series, Book, and Chapter is really useful and I especially appreciate the ability to tag certain categories and attributes to the locations and characters that I create.

I am unable to change the sizing of images, which is a major part of how I identify characters and locations within my writing projects.

I write in Scrivener but I begin in Plottr. No more orphaned characters and when the protag does something on the timeline I'll write an equal and oppose reaction on the same place in time on the antagonist and/or other affected character.

Amazing tool and it interfaces with Scrivener. Plottr's key use for: before, I was a pantser and I would intro a character in Chapter 2 then we wouldn't hear from him again until Chapter 16 where he did something significant. The problem is, ignoring him for that long turns him into a deux ex machina when he finally acts. He hasn't been characterized, HAS NO LIFE, and we don't give a damn about him when he finally does act. Well, Plottr helps me see those holes and now I drop in a chapter on him, even if it's only 600 words and he's having coffee -- and maybe plotting with a bad guy.

I would like a Zap-like connection, an active API that talks to Scrivener and updates Scrivener when I update or drop in a new character or action in Plottr. Without that, I'm chasing to keep house.

I use Plottr along with Scrivener. Plottr allows me to keep a bird's eye view of my storyline, subplots, characters in each scene, etc.

I gave "Ease" a score of 4 because as with every app, there is a learning curve. While Plottr is very easy to get started with, it took me a while to better decide how to use it for my writing. I am a new writer, so this isn't Plottr's fault. It's just there are so many great features, it takes a while to see which ones I want to use and how to use it.

1. I can create a visual timeline to help me keep track of my plot.
2. I can add pictures that represent my characters
3. I love the flexibility of using the tags,
4. I can easily keep track of which characters are in which scene by adding that character attribute to the scene.

I would like to be able to hide individual columns. The app does allow you to shrink all the sub-columns in an act, but it would be helpful to be able to hide individual columns at times. However, this isn't a show-stopper.

This is seriously essential for my writing. I use it to keep track of my plot, characters, and locations in my fiction series. If you're looking for a tool to keep track of everything from character eye colors to what actually happens in Chapter 16 -- stop looking -- this is the software you're looking for.

The timeline feature is essential for me. I use the Series timeline to track dates of events and such and the individual book timelines to map out chapters/scenes/subscenes. I'm also a dork about color... I just can't use something if I hate the color (too distracting!) -- and Plottr lets me change colors of things, which both helps me not go crazy with colors I hate, but also helps me categorize cards and such.

Occasionally, I run into a weird bug -- but the support for Plottr has been super responsive and have always fixed what I needed fixes quickly.

I'm really pleased with the possibilities of using Plottr. It helps me plan the overall structure of my novel, and I really like the various templates available.

I've only used Plottr a little, but I can tell it will be really helpful for writing my historical novels. I'm especially excited about the Timeline, which I've used to create an actual timeline of key events related to my next novel. I plan to add my plot structure and will be able to see at a glance what world events might affect my characters at each point in the novel.

No complaints at this time. My biggest struggle is choosing which template to use for plotting my novel.

Plottr is laid out the way my brain works, and I love that. It makes outlining, and then following that outline, a breeze.

It is easy to use and navigate. And when writing a series, I love that I can keep the character info, place notes, general notes, etc together in one spot and then jump between book outlines within the series while maintaining all the information for the overall series that I’ve already established.

It also works great with Scrivener, which was a big necessity for me. Everything transfers over seamlessly and I can get straight to work.

When I contacted the company with an issue I was having, they reached out quickly and were very responsive. I was very impressed and got the impression that they care and are passionate about making their product the best for their users.

None really. It does exactly what I need to do and does it with ease. The newest feature of separating the beats in phases/acts isn’t super intuitive and I’ve been struggling to figure it out, but I also haven’t dedicated much time to trying to sort it out, so that’s also on me.

You may need just a few minutes to poke around the tool or watch one of their many tutorial videos to get a feel for how it works, but in very little time you'll be cranking out an outline with your desired level of detail, and faster than you might expect.

Plottr can do the barest of bare bones outlines, or can house a tremendous amount of detailed info. If you make use of tags, and link characters/locations/etc to scenes (which you are not pushed into doing) it's very easy to search/filter on those things.

I am not a natural outliner, and have struggled with every other approach I've tried. Plottr makes it reasonably simple to create an outline flexible enough to capture timeline, non-scene backstory, flashbacks, and related details for all scenes, characters, and locations, in such an easy to reference and edit manner, without becoming a giant mess.

The interface is simple yet featureful, has attractive and functional use of color, is very flexible, and has been fast and reliable during all the time I've used it.

It does not force you into a particular workflow. I have several "plotline" elements added, but one of them is just dates, another is for indication of structural beats, etc. You can utilize adding a new plotline in any way you can think of, or base it off one of the (customizable) template.

There are numerous ways to visualize your timeline\outline, each of which seems like it would appeal to folks who have different types of workflows.

Once the general approach of the tool "clicks" for you it becomes second nature very quickly.

As a Linux user, very happy to see it packaged unofficially as an appimage.

I wish the appimage was a first class citizen.

I also wish the tool was set up to encourage doing all my writing inside Plottr. Everything it *does* do is done so well - would be great to have this be a one-stop tool.

This has definitely helped me stay on track and keep details right, especially when writing in a series. Now my characters should have the same eye colour in book 3 as they did in book 1. Or even chapter 15 as when it was mentioned in chapter 3.

I love that I can create characters and there are existing templates to add elements I hadn't even thought of, same with the plot templates and how I can easily add my own elements. I love how I can pull it into Scrivener and have a read-to-go template to write to.

Every time I come up with something I would like improved, a new version comes out and they've addressed it so I can't think of any cons at this point in time.

I've loved using Plottr for the ease of seeing all my scenes laid out, and being able to see problems with my plot that I might not otherwise have seen without Plottr's features.

Plottr is helpful in so many different ways! I bought Plottr for the main benefit of seeing my story mapped out and being able to easily rearrange scenes, and that is incredibly useful. However, what I've found even more helpful is being able to isolate scenes in the timeline based on characters, locations, POV, etc., so I can notice things I wouldn't have otherwise. For example, I realized that my main character's best friend didn't appear until the middle of the story, that five scenes in a row took place in the same room (not exactly dynamic), and that alternating POV simply did not make sense.

I also love the "Notes" section, being able to include pictures in the tags, and the fact that it can export so easily to Scrivener!

No cons with Plottr itself. The only thing I would like to see is an option to see all the media associated with a particular tag. For example, being able to see all the scenes, notes, and locations associated with a character in one place.

I renewed it twice and I’m cheap. I think that says a lot. It’s a great tool that works with a variety of styles.

I enjoy Plottr because it keeps me organized. I tend to be a hands-on plotter which means I hand write a lot. Having it saved on Plottr helps a lot. I am still learning how to adapt it to my three-act structure style, but once I do, I think I’ll be very happy.

My biggest complaint is that I can’t seem download or print the info as it appears on the screen. I’d love to have a screenshot version of it so I see it laid out in three acts.

Plottr is a key tool in my writing life. Pre-Plottr I used free-form notes, which were nowhere near as effective.

For my stories, I need a fairly detailed plot to allow me to write effectively, and I need a good series bible of characters and places to keep everything consistent.

For novels with a lot of plot points, I wish I either had a larger monitor or more density so I could see the whole story arc without scrolling across or vertically.

Hands down one of the best writing apps you can have in your writers tool box! I also love the fact that it integrates seamlessly with Scrivener which is a perfect companion to Plottr.

I simply love this program as it helps, an amateur, like myself, plot and get a story structure to the point where it should be and it makes sense. The character profiles, setting profiles, tons of plot structure templates and so much more. The developers are endlessly making Plottr better and better each release. My go to writing app.

There is nothing about the app I dislike however, the website could use some tweaking on the navigation. The site isn't very intuitive but oh well, its the app you want anyway!

A great way to help plan your novel and keep track of all the threads and sub-plots that run through it. I use Plottr all the time to draft outlines and make sure my manuscript is flowing.

There's a couple of features I'd love to see to make the app even easier to use but nothing major. I've added them to the Plottr 'wishlist' and I'm sure they'll be included in a future update.

I have never used this type of software before and really didn't know what to expect. Thus far, it has far exceeded my expectations.

Has everything I need to plot out a book in advance, and yet is extremely easy to learn. Writers can be an impatient bunch and like it when new tools don't slow down the process.

I sometimes have to quit out of the program and restart it to open my document. But this doesn't happen frequently and is no big deal.

I was about to give up writing a sequel to my book. It became too overwhelming as I tried keeping my story straight, and organized. This product has helped me tremendously. I am extremely pleased to say, "Thanks to Plottr, I have begun writing again!"
