    Long Time User Experience

    Updated: Feb 25 2023
    Summary

I have been using ProTA for over 25 years. I would highly recommend it to any Mac investor rather that "slug" through running a PC on your Mac.
I ran a neighborhood investment group for a couple of years and once they saw ProTA in action, bought it. It doesn't try to "bedazzle" the user, but instead offers powerful features and excellent charting for the intermediate to professional investor.
In my opinion, "best bang for the buck".

    Positive

Best feature is it runs on a Macintosh. I have experience with both PCs and Macs, taught classes on both and prefer Macs hands down.
If you are a power investor and use a Mac, I consider it the best in the field.
ProTA is a powerful toolbox for both the beginner and power user.
It has all the customary "canned" indicators but shines in its Gold Language which lets you write your own custom indicators and then test them against a single stock or batch of stocks. Excellent.
Until recently, it was a single price purchase, but has now changed to an annual fee. Still, its price is VERY reasonable compared to the competition.
With its Smart List feature you can sort a long list of stocks and pull out just those that meet your criteria.
Biggest ProTA feature is the programs charting ability, which is lightening fast.
Also, It is not connected to the internet and that security is a significant plus if you are creating custom analysis.
Support is immediate if you have a problem or need help assistance in using the Gold Languare to create you own indicator.
A free download "try before you buy".

    Negative

The User manual is simply an explanation of basic features and needs to be expanded to cover how to use the power of the program.
It would be very helpful if there was a supported user-web-site or blog for users to share analysis, strategy, tricks, and short cuts.
A simple tutorial with practice lesson would be really helpful for new users with lots of examples. The initial learning curve can be steep for some.
