    I recommend it for the people who are using an Excel spreadsheet with the resources allocated week by week.

    The tool will efficiently replace it and provides as bonus, notifications, and some metrics.

    I like the global overview of the resources and on which project they are allocated.

    It replaces efficiently an Excel spreadsheet to manage my consulting resources and to track who is currently available for a new mission.

    PHP + Mysql is easy to install.

    Some actions are still complex to perform or tedious.

    Summary

    I started in 2014 to use SOPlanning in a productive environment, replacing pen & paper on a flip chart. Great success. Collaboration of workgroups in 3 different countries is now possible. Cannot imagine a life without it now.

    Easy to use.
    Easy to customize.
    Easy to install.
    Based on well known basics (apache, mysql, php).
    User just needs a browser, no other software required. Makes it possible to use on different platforms (not limited to Windows)
    Project is alive, constant development. Existing support.

    Negative

    Recently the team has fixed some bugs shortly after release of a version by replacing some files under the same release number. That behaviour is difficult to track. Would be more professional to publish even small fixes as a new release number.

    Overall we have used it a lot in our organisation, but mostly for leave and holiday registering as we are a production industry.

    Runs locally on own server.
    Good support.
    Flexible design.
    Possible to enter your own holidays.
    No user cap.
    If you want a feature, you can make it yourself, or pitch your suggestions to the developers.

    Some bugs persist.
    Design is moderate, room for improvement.

    It helped us when we needed to setup something quickly and easily to track what everyone was doing. For the setup part, the instructions were clear and up to date so everything went smoothly.
    From my user experience, I can tell that putting my datas into the calendar was quick and I didn't have to fight against the product to get things done.

    Great tool ! simple (as in its title). No hard setup, i used it in 5 minutes. No big features but only what is need to handle projects and users without having to spend ages on learning...
