What is Sandbox0?
Sandbox0 is a runtime environment that complies with Apache-2.0 and is specifically designed to run AI agents and services that manage untrusted code over prolonged periods. It provides secure and isolated Linux environments that can execute commands, retain stateful contexts, perform file operations, enable SSH access, oversee supervised sessions, and implement network controls. Its architecture is engineered to allow sandboxes to maintain a durable writable RootFS through effective pause-and-resume checkpoints, while also incorporating features like snapshots, restoration capabilities, and forks that permit the establishment of reusable workspaces. Developers can utilize SDKs for Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Go, as well as an HTTP API and the s0 CLI, to create and manage their sandboxes with ease and efficiency. For those interested in hosted solutions, Sandbox0 Cloud provides easy access, while organizations have the flexibility to self-host the runtime on dedicated Nomad infrastructure. By default, when the system is paused, it retains the filesystem state, yet it does not preserve live process memory or external connections; however, experimental memory recovery can be pursued depending on the necessary deployment infrastructure. This comprehensive approach not only enhances flexibility and security but also caters to diverse user requirements in the realm of AI technologies, making it a versatile tool for developers and organizations alike.
