What is Session?

Session is a messaging platform that employs end-to-end encryption to protect user privacy and reduce sensitive metadata, appealing to those who seek absolute confidentiality and a respite from surveillance. Users can set up accounts without providing a phone number or email, which further ensures their anonymity. The service avoids data collection, thereby minimizing the risk of potential breaches. Communication is facilitated through an onion routing network, which guarantees that no digital traces are left behind. The open-source nature of Session's code permits anyone to review, audit, and contribute to its ongoing development. By functioning without a central point of failure, it is much more robust against any attempts at shutdown. Whether you wish to have private conversations with a small circle of friends or engage with a broader audience, the platform offers you the flexibility to do either. Closed groups allow for discussions with up to 20 friends while maintaining the same encryption level as individual chats, while larger open groups can accommodate an unlimited number of participants. Moreover, voice messages serve as a more personal means of communication when text may not suffice, ensuring your feelings are expressed accurately. With such diverse features, Session is specifically crafted to elevate your messaging experience while prioritizing the security of your data and communications. This comprehensive approach makes it an appealing choice for those who value privacy in their digital interactions.

Session is Innovative and The future

    Date: Apr 02 2023
    Summary

Love it. Wickr, you were my love but you sold out, now you're no more encrypted or private than Facebook.

    Positive

I found session 2 years ago when it was just put out and was in love, no sign up or logs, top notch encryption and u can dump and create new accounts as quick and easy as pushing a button. Session is the future.

    Negative

It was buggy, but they were working on it. I also noticed something, called sentinel? A file that someone was trying to send me, in the past I've ran into it and believe it's a form of spyware, probably just the person I was chatting with, but idk...

Not really a con of the app but Session is not really popular.

    An Australian company

    Date: Sep 15 2022
    Summary

This app needs a history of no incident going back 5-10 years before it should be relied upon for high stakes security needs.

    Positive

The range of features and the actual current demonstrated capabilities and omissions are grand. Open source is critically important and their protocol is based upon tried and true protocols from safe developers.

It's a shame you can't trust their situation as an entity - as all of this can become irrelevant immediately in the blink of an eye under a number of plausible - likely, even - scenarios. This weakness must be addressed.

    Negative

You won't find privacy from apps developed in Australia or by Australians. Period. This is very suspicious and what is secure today may be very quickly made insecure and revelatory retrospectively in one quick patch. Do not trust any company at the mercy of Australian lawmakers. Because even they have no say over the matter if push comes to shove.

    P2p v.soon.
