What is SysMLv2 Editor?

The SysMLv2 Editor is a Visual Studio Code extension that facilitates the creation of SysML v2 models in a text-based format, developed by Change Vision, Inc. These models are stored as standard .sysml files, which can be effectively managed within Git repositories, compared during pull requests, and assessed alongside other source code elements.

Key features include syntax highlighting, real-time validation in accordance with the SysML v2 grammar, navigation to definitions, an outline view, and the ability to generate diagrams that analyze both structural and behavioral aspects of models. Although the provided diagrams are read-only, allowing for text editing, Change Vision also has an early access version of the SysMLv2 Modeler that permits direct manipulation of diagrams.

This editor is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms, and users can utilize it through Astah SysML, Astah System Safety, or Astah Faculty Site Licenses without further financial commitment, with a complimentary 20-day trial also available. It is important to mention that the editor does not allow the import of SysML v1 models from Astah SysML, which helps maintain a clear differentiation between SysML versions. By concentrating on SysML v2, the tool aims to offer an enhanced user experience, featuring advanced functionalities and a contemporary approach to modeling, ultimately fostering a more efficient workflow for developers and modelers alike.
