What is Thangs Sync?

Thangs Sync is a desktop application that allows users to designate a folder for backing up 3D assets to the unlimited, secure, and complimentary Thangs 3D-native cloud. This service, Thangs + Sync, supports more 3D file formats than any other available option. Whenever a new model or 3D file is added to the designated synced directory, it is securely stored within the user’s Thangs Workspace and the 3D-native cloud. Furthermore, when a newer version of a file is saved, it replaces the previous version in the folder. All models and their iterations are reliably backed up in the Workspace, which offers features such as a 3D-native view, visual revision tracking, and tools for a non-linear collaborative workflow, ensuring that users can manage their projects effectively.     Summary

    Sync allows me to work on a model and save iterations of it while having them synced to thangs without having to do anything manually. It's the perfect hands off solution to iterating on a design.

    Positive

    I don't have to leave Autodesk in order for my models to be backed up to Thangs. It handles all of that for me.

    Negative

    Sometimes it can be difficult to tell when a model has finished syncing.

    Summary

    As someone who uses Blender regularly for all kinds of work, it's incredible to have the ability to search for models, know the licensing right away and be able to use appropriate models whenever I need as a starting point, for inspiration, or to add to what I'm designing. It's like typing in a URL vs. finding what you want via Google. Much faster and easier, and you discover a lot more this way. Can't recommend it enough.

    Absolutely love it. The older version was great already but the new version is insane. Being able to pull models into Blender from anywhere in the internet is a game changer. It honestly speeds up my work significantly. It's night/day. I haven't seen other tools like this before, which is a surprise given how obvious you'd think it would be to make something like this.

    Negative

    With the old version, I didn't like that I'd have to leave Blender. It wasn't a big deal, and it was still helpful. With the update though, it's awesome.
