What is ToolBook?

ToolBook is a software tool for creating e-learning content specifically tailored for Microsoft Windows, originally introduced in 1990 by the Asymetrix Corporation, which has since become a part of SumTotal Systems. This software adopts a book-like structure, with a project file that resembles a book filled with diverse content pages. Users have the option to either operate the content produced by ToolBook as an independent Windows application or convert it into HTML format for online viewing in web browsers. The most recent version, ToolBook 11.5, was launched in December 2012, signaling the conclusion of its development phase. SumTotal has officially announced that ToolBook has reached its End-Of-Life status, stopping all sales and planning to completely retire the product on January 1, 2022. Consequently, users are advised to seek out alternative e-learning platforms that might better serve their educational needs in the future. As the landscape of digital learning continues to evolve, exploring newer solutions could provide enhanced features and functionalities.
